I have a new problem. I am out if the cast and was in a walking boot. I had to take off the boot to change clothes. Now I am unable to flatten my foot. Every time I try its kills me and I put my boot on but my heel is not touching the bottom!!!! I made the pain more now ?😭😢

Hi Adzaa211,
Nothing to worry about. The same thing happened to me. PT helped me get it flat on the floor in around two weeks. There will be pain, but that's the part the doctor's leave out of the recovery portion. At least my doctor did. There's a lot my doctor neglected to tell me about getting a TAR.
Good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Yeah I slipped out of mines the boot already. It's just frustrating that's all. I fell on my butt thankfully not my leg. I am just laying around need to find me a PT and a way to pay for it. Healthcare is expensive!

Gigi is correct in my opinion. Remember your foot and lower leg gets used to a particular static position in these boots and when you take it out of that environment it struggles. Its the muscles and tendons mostly, and they will hurt with any movement. It will feel like damage but it isn't. The damage was done - this is healing. Prepare for pain and discomfort throughout recovery. I'm 7 months post tibiotalar arthrodesis and I am still using analgesics to assist with the discomfort. It did get better but it takes time which is largely dependent on your age and nutrition.
Good luck.

Thank you! It's been only one day since I am out of the cast. I feel so lost and unbalanced. I need to find it in me to keep stay positive in spite of it all. How is your recovery now?
