I tried to find what coloyspmie clinic meant on google but couldnt, my last smear test,( i presumed you meant Smear test) experience wasnt a nice one as as with me too she couldnt find my cervix easily and it was painfull too though must say all the years before this one i had no problems. I do wonder why the dr. has given you an appointment for two other clinics? is it because of your symptoms or did she / he find other things on examining you? Could just be that your due for the mammogram anyway. May i ask your age and the way you are feeling and if possible your symptoms of feeling crap, maybe then others will be able to reasure and and advice you too.

Pap testing can be difficult as women get older, it can be hard to get a decent sample, the procedure can become more uncomfortable, may be painful, even intolerable, and false positives are more likely as well.
BUT most of it is unnecessary, most older women are HPV- and cannot benefit from pap testing, you can even test yourself for HPV so no need for a speculum exam. I assume you're being sent for a colposcopy because the doctor couldn't complete the pap test. (you can access HPV self testing online or ask your doctor for a self testing device, be firm!)
The new Dutch program is 5 HPV primary tests at ages 30,35,40,50 and 60 or self-testing with the Delphi Screener and only the roughly 5% who are HPV+ will be offered a 5 yearly pap test.
MOST women are HPV- and having unnecessary pap testing and many are going through hell trying to have these pap tests, it's cruel, women should be offered evidence based testing and self testing options.
Those HPV- and no longer sexually active might choose to stop all further testing.
Pap testing should only be offered to the small number of women aged 30 to 60 who are HPV+
Be careful with the mammogram as well, I've declined to have them, an informed decision.
I'd urge you to head over to the website of the Nordic Cochrane Institute, an independent, not for profit, medical research group and read their excellent summary of the risks and benefits of breast screening. It's concerning, about 50% of screen detected breast cancers are over-diagnosed and any benefit of screening appears to be wiped out by those who die from heart attacks and cancers after treatments.
