A blinking reflex that makes my visits at the doctor's unnecessarily hard

Hi,

I'm currently being treated for too high intraocular pressure (with a possible risk of glaucoma). The visits to my doctor are always so tedious, though, because of an uncontrollable blinking reflex that makes it impossible for me to keep my eyes open when anything comes near them (like a tonometer). My doctor thinks I'm an inconvenient nuisance and says that I am actively obstructing his reading of my pressure, the pachymetry results and stuff like that. How do I get over this?

Thats a difficult one as its instinctive to close your eyes if anything goes close to them. I have the Tonometry test yearly and usually have to have two tries before its successful, so you are not unusual. I am assuming your eyes are numbed before the test?Very unreasonable of your doctor to treat you as a nuisance because of this......most patients are exactly the same. Try practising keeping your eyes open and bringing something near them. It may help.

If you are saying this is a condition where you blink too much in general you may need some investigations for it.
