A cold that has lasted close to four months and my doctors can do nothing.

I'm what was once a reasonable fit and healthy man of eighty three. True I have type two diabetes

high blood pressure, high cholesterol and a couple of other minor problems but there all under control. However, nearly four months ago I started a cough where I constantly found myself attempting to express phlegm from my trachea if that is the pipe that I feel is full of muck. I feel so exhausted I become wobbly if I try to walk up the garden.

In the last four months I have been to the doctors four times and on each occasion all I got was, "lots of people have this and it is not anything we can treat with antibiotics. So, what do I do, just wait to die?

It could be possible that you are allergic to something around you. Have you installed anything new in your home, maybe been around an animal or new medication. If your doctor tells you there is nothing they can do, it's time to change doctors. Yes a lot of doctors don't seem to care a lot about you when you are in advanced senior years and tend to just put you off without any real explanation. So now it's time to find another one , maybe a Ear Nose & Throat Specialist, Asthmatic Dr. or a Allergist doctor. Don't give up.
