A couple more links and addresses for advocacy

Hi everyone. Hope things are improving. I have been doing some research trying to find about a Health and Disabilities Commission in the UK but it supports mainly discrimination in employment etc but I have had some success with a few addresses and links. I guess people are getting tired of links now though if their doctors are not really listening to them. I can totally empathize with you about that everytime I have tried to reduce zopiclone I have had poor sleep, hallucinations and anxiety. Fortunately for me I have a good GP today who is into slow withdrawal for it but I have found some useful information for you all on several websites that may be effective for you.

www.mind.org.uk/information-support/drugs-and-treatments/medication-stopping-or-coming-off/

I would love to keep supporting you all with your experiences but there is only so much I can do so I will use my mental health expertise and work experience to be an advocate and write to the following email addresses.

It may empower you to write away as an advocate too as you all feel so strongly about how you have been treated as you have every right to with being treated badly from doctors and pharmacies. Making a difference for others like you are all ready doing supporting and caring for each other could be really rewarding for you. The email addresses are:

correspondence@equalityhumanrights.com

contactwales@mind.org.uk

Hope it goes well! I will write to them soon for all sufferers out there including you definitely as I feel strongly about what myself, you all and so many others going through not gettting legitimate medical treatment from your doctors. Take care and hang in there. Things will improve.

Hey Vicky. You have been treated really badly by your doctors - it is not fair. A letter of complaint is a great idea. You could get a friend to help you with it too. Hang in there - you will get through. I was anxious about seeing my GP today so I listened to music on my i-pod and radio walking there and back and waiting in the waiting room. I also found her attitude a bit disrespectful and demeaning. I just thought when I left there it is their ignorance and a fault of their own it is only people experiencing severe panic attacks trying to come off something like zopiclone (one of the strongest drugs around) that would understand. Doctors have not had that experience. I actually wish she could use her position and training as a doctor though to advocate for people being treated badly in the medical system - that would do the world of good - they would listen to her - so I am dissapointed she hasn't really especially since she supports slow withdrawal getting off zopiclone. My sister is a lawyer so I am thinking I might ask her to do something about it and she has worked in the UK before. She would love to do some charity work for it. In the meantime I will be an advocate and write to the above email addresses and see what response I get. Take deep breathes, do some nice things for yourself like having a favourite lunch or breakfast before going and turn up there knowing you know best not them. Also have some nice things to do for yourself when you come home if you are upset. Wish I could help more. They are completely obliged to get back to you with your letter of complaint so here is hoping they will listen to you like you deserve. xoxo
