A couple of questions

Hello,

I have been having a lot of flare ups with my LS the last few months. My dermatologisit has advided me to use clob (again) but start from every day for a month again. However, she has told me to use a 'figertip amount' which is way more than i have used before. This makes me feel very uncomfortable about using so much, and I must say that 3 weeks in and there's no real improvement. She has suggested, in a letter to my GP, that if it wasn't going well, they could prescribe a different kind of clob which has an added anti inflammatory agent. I do have the name, but not sure if I can mention it on here. So, my first question -has anyone else been told to use this amount of clob, and how did it go?

After doing some more research (as I'm sure lots of us do!) I decided to order some Emuaid. Yes, it's not cheap, but worth it if it can give some relief. I have been using coconut oil without problems and it does seem to soothe the skin. To those of you that already use Emuaid, how often do you apply, how much, and also is it appropriate to use it in conjunction with the clob?

Thanks in advance for any help you super people can give.

I use it as needed. For me, it's often when I'm itchy. Brings almost instant relief. It's not as effective with sore spots. Seems too strong for that. I use it in conjunction with my steroid.

I think you must be right about being too strong for sore spots. I have Lichen Planus and have no white plaques or itching but just sore spots, ulcerated depressions which rarely skin over. Heard about EmuAid and got it from Australia, but it just burned my open sores. Another once- used pot to add to my medicine cabinet!

i use no creams except my Mometasone every day at the moment but if I get very dry I use pure emu oil once a day.

My experience is - don't use more than a peasize amount of Clob.  Too much may work against you, although I can not prove this and be entirely certain.

For moisturizing I use coconut oil. Next to baking soda baths and rinses.  For me this works well and seems to be the best maintenance.  Though we're all different and may react in different ways to things.

Are you also aware that your diet may have to be changed - sugar for instance is a sure trigger for many, diary and gluten may also have an affect on your LS.  No harm done if you check this out.

Another one is stress.  Have you gone through a stressful period of time perhaps?

I hope you will soon get on top of things. Flare ups are no fun.

When my daughter was tiny she was diganosed with LS. She didn't have it after all, but anyway I remember what the consultant said about Clob at the time. A fingertip unit covers an area the size of your palm, so smaller finger, smaller area etc.

Hope that helps. Ironic now that I've got it...
