A girl wondering if she has herpes (Comment help)

I once had a boyfriend who tested positive for the type 2 herpes virus, generally known as genital herpes. I adored him so much and didn't want to let him go for that reason. After 7 months, we broke up. I haven't shown any herpes symptoms, but I recently experienced a scare that made me fear even the smallest bumps now scare me . Since we haven't had sex in a month, I intend to have my blood drawn, but I'm not sure how long I should wait to get my blood drawn . Since I don't have any outward signs, I want my blood test to be reliable. how long should i wait to get blood drawn.

if you’ve just recently contracted this virus, you need to wait 90 days or three months to have your blood drawn. If you exhibit any signs or symptoms, you can go directly to the clinic and ask for a swab test a swab test is 99% accurate whereas a blood test is only 65% accurate or less.

Blood tests aren't reliable for herpes as it can be dormant for years. The CDC recommends for people not to get tested for it unless they have an active outbreak because the stigma around it causes more stress than actually having it. If you had unprotected sex then you might already have it because it's easier for women to get it from men, than for a woman to give it to a man. If you have it, it might not appear for years or months and sometimes people confuse a herpes outbreak with ingrown hairs. Most doctors won't test you for HSV 1 or 2 unless you're having an outbreak, so if I were you, I probably would avoid that. Don't stress about it and if/when you have an outbreak, get a swab and your doctor will give you medicine to help it heal faster.
