A lesion was found in the neck of my gallbladder which is suspicious for a polyp

Hello, everyone! I am so glad I came across this forum. Here is my story and I’ll try to keep it as short as possible. In 2008 I had an ultrasound done because I kept having heart-burn-like symptoms. My doctor sent me to get an endoscopy done to rule out ulcer. The result came back normal. In 2011, I went in for an ultrasound because I kept having slight to moderate pain in the pit of my stomach which was pulsating to the touch. The result came back with a lesion so tiny that they were not able to measure it. Each year, for the next 4 years, I had an ultrasound done and all the results came back normal (the tiny lesion or possibly a polyp that was found in the neck of my gallbladder was not found). In 2015 I had another ultrasound done and the result was normal but I continue to have this nagging, achy, dull pain in the RUQ. I went to see the surgeon for a consult and right away, she told me my gallbladder is “dead” and it’s not working anymore that was why I felt that way and my gallbladder had to come out. I was not happy with that answer because I still don’t understand why the lesion they found in the ultrasound back in 2011 is was no longer seen in the ultrasound after. As the years go by, my symptoms continue to progress (slightly more than before) but still tolerable. The symptoms come and go and sometimes it lasted for days and sometimes for only a few minutes or hours. This pain comes when I’m full and when I’m on an empty stomach; it comes before bedtime and I would wake up with it in the morning but once I ate breakfast, it would feel a little better. Since the pain in my side is more noticeable this year, I went in for another ultrasound. This time they found a lesion in the neck of my gallbladder, AGAIN, (suspicious for a polyp) in the size of 1.2 cm. I went in to see another surgeon for a consult and she recommends that I take my gallbladder out asap because the bigger the polyp, the more chance of it turning cancerous. I really don’t want to loose my gallbladder but it seems I have no choice. I’m so scared to go under. Has anyone ever have gallbladder polyp and had to take it out? If you don’t mind, please share your experience with me including surgery if you have already took yours out. I’m just so scared. Thank you and God bless.

Hi viki. I didn't have a polyp so I can't comment on that. Just wanted to let you know not to worry at all about the surgery. They gave me something to relax me before I went into the OR and I was out before even entering. The next thing I knew i woke up in recovery. No big deal at all. Please don't worry about that. Just take care of yourself.

Hi Lynda. I'm doing okay. I think it's getting better slowly. Still finding it hard to find something that sounds good to eat and doesn't make me feel bad afterward. Ready to start eating fruits and veggies again but so far haven't been able to. But really I shouldn't complain at all after seeing what some people are going through. How are you?

I'm glad that you're getting better.  I think that taking it easy is best.  I started eating applesauce first and then went on to experiment with other things, like potatoes and rice. I definitely can't eat things I used to love, like cauliflower.  I hope that you continue to recover well.

As for me, I'm doing okay!  Thanks for asking smile
