A little odd

Hi everyone. I'm just over 6 weeks post op. Have gotten the okey from the surgeon. I am doing well. However, I do a few things and I am exhausted. My head then gets quite fuzzy and I feel a little off centre. Not dizzy. Just not quite 'myself' in the old way. Blood pressure is ok. Has anyone else experienced this?

I agree with you, some weird reactions.  I ran past the local GP the possibility not of rejection, but of my body reacting somehow to the foreign object now in it, he laughed at me.

But hes not going to convince me otherwise, its was mild but annoying for me, but I have come to the conclusion that I had some sort of reaction to that foriegn object, passed with time, happened both times, with double hip replacement, and or is it just our bodies reacting to such a huge operation, and the broken bones, even though it was done surgically.

Thanks. Going to chiro tomorrow to have gentle neck and head adjustment. Swear my entire body is out of alignment. And I don't know about you but I get dehydrated quickly if I'm not careful and that definitely affects my head. Pshaw. Docs don't know everything!

    hi saltspringer ,

dazed and confused huh?   well, I am afraid that this might be for a little while longer .. 6 weeks is still early in recovery ... brain fog, feeling dizzy and unstable, surreal and emotional ... so much has been and is still going on that it is really a miracle we function at all ... but somehow we do, albeit in a slightly different way ..don't forget how you get here, okay ...

I  have the same experience and still have some issues with dizziness or feeling off ...

your body is out of allignment for sure ...

adjustment and massages will help ...

be gentle with yourself ... you have come a lkong way

    big warm hug

I'm now 4 months post op and have started to feel headachy and not with it. I've put it down to the extra effort needed going back to work. 😵

There's nothing less traumatic with having a HR than breaking your hip, it still needs to heal just the same as a fractured hip, your body was traumatized and is I'm recovery, dehydration is quite common so you do need to be drinking fluids every hour and please make sure a lot of it is water, also your calorie intake especially protein needs to be higher to help the bone heal and give you more energy.

As for the heads inability to clear, well you have not been active the same as you were so you need to get your sense of equilibrium back, could be a while, see your GP and get him to check your ears.

Its not a quick fix like they lead you to believe but you will get there and this sites great at qwelling your concerns

I'm ten weeks, coming up to eleven, and my brain still takes twice as long to think! I thought I'd get loads of reading done whilst off work, and actually couldn't take in most of what I read. One book. In nine weeks! I forget the end of sentences. Forget what I was going to get and end up standing in a room trying to remember.

    Brain fog? Oh yes.....

eek right, Beth ... for me it lasted quite a while and even now I still have my moments ... senior moments?????

I got very concerned when I was looking at some yellow pieces of fruit and for the life of me I could not remember the name ::: PIneapple ...

I voiced my concern to my GP who had my memory tested and send me to neurologist - Had the brain scan and, goodness, I am one bright and healthy woman ...

      but still ...

Yes. My record was going into the kitchen three times to get something and forgetting every time I arrived what I had gone for! Yet when I got back to the sofa and sat down I remembered instantly - hence the three trips! But it's great for exercise biggrin

      Renee,

My wife suffered with me on our traumatic journey through my hip replacement last year, we have laughed at each other's mistakes ...

She said to me the other day "Can you put these clothes in the microwave for me please", or the time she opened the fridge door to put some washing in (should have been the tumble dryer).  rolleyes

I am just as bad ... I cannot remember all sorts of things, which was a real problem when I returned to work.  sad.  I also forget what things are ... pineapple huh ? cool

      Best wishes

I really don't know...... My memory was never wonderful, but it's really bad now.   As we both seem to have it, we have put it down to the trauma of going through all the problems I had with my THR.  It was bad enough for me, but for my wife, was truly terrible, and she had me to take care of at the same time too. 😆 Thank goodness I had her looking after me.

I expected to be back at work by 12 weeks post operation, in the end after two operations it was just over 5 months.   Maybe it will just take me longer to recover.

Right now I'm really looking forward to retiring.  Less than 4 months to go now cheesygrin, less than my recovery time off work.

      Best wishes Renee
