hi all,
i have been suffering with a pounding heart, pulse for nearly 6 months now.
my heart rate isnt too high, resting figures around 60-70 on my watch but even at that pace its so strong.
it is visible in neck throat chest stomach and i cant describe the intensity feeing when i get up from a laying down position or simply climb the stairs.
i have had ecg, eco, stress test and bloods which were fine. Ectopic beats were picked up and i feel them everytime because my beats are so forceful which doesnt help.
please reach out if you have ever had anything similar. Now covid postive so im going crazy.
appreciate it x

Hello Matthew, sorry for you and I am experiencing the same. I never had this problem before and I woke up one morning and felt my heart was racing. I ended up in A&E as I really thought I was having a heart attack. It seems it was an anxiety attack and I felt really unwell for the week following. I'm waiting on a heart monitor to be fitted and think I might feel more reassured after this but it has been a few weeks now and I think I will have a long wait with pressures on the NHS. I have a watch which monitors my heart and I take it off now because I panic if it buzzes even though it shows nothing untoward. I have found slow deep breathing helps a bit but not too much deep breathing as I hyperventilate before. I also tell myself it's in my head and I can control it. These things have helped me a bit....maybe they could help you. I too have Covid which is raising anxiety levels. However, I am keeping in mind that it is no worse than a bad cold and to stay calm. Warm baths and drinking water is what I'm doing. I hope you find a way to relax and reduce your worries

do you also suffer from anxiety? If so that could be the reason your heart is pounding. A pounding heart doesn’t necessarily mean that something is wrong especially when your tests are all normal. Even if you don’t feel anxious sometimes people have an underlying anxiety and adrenaline is released which can cause the pounding heart.
I’ve had a pounding heart on and off for many years which is due to anxiety. However there are ways to settle it down a bit .
first of all, try not to get worried or fearful about it because that will actually keep it pounding. We also have to remember the facts. And that is that your tests were normal.
sometimes
when we change the way we think which would be negative to positive, we can actually change physical sensations as well. Another thing that’s very important is proper breathing.
You can actually settle down the heart when you breathe the right way for anxiety. You can find short videos and breathing for anxiety. It really works.
you can also find some really great calming meditations for anxiety on YouTube which also include the breathing . I do this every night when laying down to sleep and I never finish it because I fall asleep. Sometimes listen during the day also.
stay away from caffeine, sugar, junk foods if you can. Or at least limit them.
get some exercise which will calm everything down later on during the day or evening.
dehydration can also cause a pounding heart. Make sure you were drinking plenty of water throughout the day!
hope this helps! Take care

thank you i have tried many techniques but the pounding is all day while i am awake, even if i am sitting working with heart rate of 70/75 it is very strong beats. its not just my chest i can feel it, its all over head to toe (not sure if thats better or worse!) then again is it that strong or am i just double aware 😦
i do suffer from health anxiety 100% but with this if i the pounding was on and off i could manage it and know itll go away but its literally all day.
i will keep practising the breathing and meditation, fingers crossed as you know its so draining when it doesnt have to be!

Hi matthew,
I have exactly the same problem as you, it started in march this year, i have a constant pounding heart, i can feel it every where in my body it is very annoying!
i have had 24hour ecg monitors fitted and numerous blood tests which came back fine apart from a lot of ectopic beats were picked up on the ecg but i was told this is completely normal, but i can feel these all the time, i can feel them most when exercising or doing anything physical.
If i look in a mirror i can see my pulse in my neck on both sides, no matter what time of day or if im resting or not. i cant sleep laid on my back or stomach as i can feel and see my pulse in my stomach so i need to sleep on my side.
stairs have become an enemy, they never used to bother me but now i feel i have to stand or sit for a few minutes just to relax and let the pounding calm a little.

hi, how are you doing? I am having the same thing for a year now when i started to feel my strong heartbeats everywhere. Stairs are making me nervous already and it triggers my anxiety so I get strong beats in my chest before climbing. I think it's all because our minds are already going alerted state and anxiety attack kicks in. I have been so scared to see pulse in my stomach and sometimes neck. Hope you are doing great!

Hi Mathew,
I also have a pounding heart, my resting heart is around 60 - 70. Did you ever stop youf heart pounding? I use Calms that seem to help when it gets unbearable. Any tips would be apreciated.
thanks
