    Hi Elaine,

Dont know whether I accessed all of your post - only three lines - I may have done something wrong!  Is the rash on one side only as it always tracks left or right (as far as I am aware)?  Mine started with feeling as though i had been scalded yet no sign of a mark of any kind.  I felt very lethargic then flu like symptoms.  Within a few days I was in extreme pain across my shoulder blade (in my case) and then the rash began  I read all I could on line and this site gave me the necessary information.  I had a telephone consultation with my doctor (not easy to get an appointment) and she confirmed my thoughts that it was shingles.  I was given anti viral meds to start immediately for a week.  This stopped the rash becoming too severe although it did still track from shoulder to under breast, which gave me mastitis type pain.  I wa

was very very tired for at least two weeks.  I am now into the fourth week and today managed some housework (first time in three weeks nearly).  The pain is getting a little less intense. Try to ascertain whether it is shingles and get yourself medication within three days of the onset of the rash.  If these symptoms are familiar in your case make sure you deal with it quickly.  Good luck and keep in touch

    1. Is it on one side of the body only?

    2. Did you get a burning sensation of the skin, either before or after?

    3. Are more rashes appearing now?

Please see your GP immediately ( UK seems to be worse than other places). In Australia, I am going to visit my GP today, and have not taken an appointment till now.

If it is Shingles, then starting anti viral medication really helps with the reduction in severity and duration.

    Get well soon.

If you think it may be shingles, you should get into the dr right away and get on anti-vitals before it gets worse. The dr will better be able to identify the rad and your symptoms.
