My large liver Cyst was de- roofed and drained by key hole Surgery 4 years ago ..it returned after 9 months and I had to have open surgery to have it done again more thoroughly. It has now returned again after 3 years making me feel dizzy...spaced out..nauseous ..and energy completely depleted . Since the problem first appeared I have  been very careful with diet and am very fit apart from this problem ...can anyone advise me on where to get the best treatment ..a good liver surgeon ...so this problem hopefully does not recur ?

That’s awful news, sorry to hear that!  I just had a large simple  liver cyst removed and feel so much better; no more back pain.  My surgeon was excellent and took 4 hours to get at it and not only deroof but to take out as much of the cyst as he could with a bit of resection.  Not sure where you live, but I go to the Pfleger Liver Institute at UCLA in California.  My exceptional surgeon is Dr. Agopian.

    Hi there!

I am due to have surgery later this week to fenestrate a giant hepatic cyst which is thought to be benign. Your post has raised concerns for me as I have been given to understand that there is a very low likelihood of the cyst returning. As I am less far along the road than are you, I don't feel able to offer any suggestions as I have no idea whether my surgeon will be any good. I will ask if there is any advice which can be given to reduce the likelihood of its return and, if it is appropriate, will gladly share this with you. Were you given any advice about this? Like you, I am otherwise fit and healthy with a (normally) active lifestyle and healthy diet. I am not overweight and have been told that the cyst is probably something I was born with, although it has now grown to massive proportions. The implications seem to be that this is an inherited condition that is not related to lifestyle, but I will ask about this.

Which country do you live in? I'm in the UK.

Have you been in touch with the British liver Trust? They are a charity available in the Internet who have lots of information on all kinds of liver disease
