A Second Hernia - This One Abdominal

Posted , 3 users are following.

I now have a hernia located roughly three inches below my navel and one inch to the right. When I cough, blow my nose and push while on the toilet the pain is excruciating. Has anyone out there had this type of hernia repaired? Of note...there is no visible swelling in the area yet.

Did your doctor said it needed to he surgically repaired? My aunt had mesh done several years ago. Her surgeries did not go well. I guess it all depends on the doctors and a good hospital.

No, my doctor has not has not met with me since the ultrasound. Early Sunday morning I went to the washroom, stood for a moment an blew my nose. I've never had such excruciating pain. I bent over and stayed that position for some time. Back in the summer this pain first showed up when I would mow the lawn or rake. I had to keep stopping until the pain subsided enough to begin again. I must assume I'll be a candidate for a repair. Thanks for your time.

    Hello,

Yes, I had 2 incisional hernias repaired in June of 2017. One of my hernias was below my navel, the other was above. Both were visible (one only slightly). My hernias appeared about 6 months after colon resection surgery a couple of years ago, and they started giving me pain right away. Pain pretty much kept me in bed for almost two years.

I lost a lot of weight and was able to have open hernia surgery with mesh. Struggled with recovery, but after another unrelated surgery (gallbladder) last month, I now feel like a million bucks. Seriously. The best I've felt in years.

I feel like the hernia repair with mesh worked out just fine for me. Glad I had the surgery.

    Good luck.

Hello and thanks. I too had colon resection surgery done laparoscopically in 2008. My inguinal hernia that is scheduled for surgery in April is pressing on my colon. Two years ago another follow-up colonoscopy had to be aborted shortly after it began because the doctor's instrument became temporarily lodged at the constricted area.

Thanks for your feedback.  Glad to hear you've got your health back. It makes a huge difference in one's outlook
