Hi Angie, I sounds as though you may have just irritated the muscles and tissue around the joint. Try putting ice compresses on the effected area. It wouldn't hurt to let your doctor know also. Hopefully he/she will put your mind at rest.

Hi Angie.I'm sorry your having this setback. I'm sure it is terribly disheartening
For you. Hopefully it's a muscle soft tissue issue. Wishing you the best

Oh Angie, it's so easy to do something like this, and you wonder just why you did something so silly afterwards - we all do it. Let's hope it's nothing more than a small setback on you road to a full recovery.
To anyone else reading this - take note, it's so very easy to overdo it!
Best wishes

Sounds like you have strained the muscles. Please be very careful as by doing things like this so soon you could actually dislocate it. It's very easy to overdo things and having various gadgets can help you reach itchy feet etc.

Hi Karen,
I had my THR last thursday and was given a grabber or 'helping hand' by the physiotherapists. You can get them online or at the mobility shop. It's great for picking up all kinds of things you have dropped like the remote control etc, pulling up your trousers, scratching your feet or pulling up the bedclothes, anything really.
It's worth its weight in gold!
Hopefully you have only strained a muscle as it's all still bedding in. I too am worried about dislocating, they told me not to twist or cross my legs or feet in any way at all for at least six weeks.
I think dislocation would involve severe pain.

It's Angie that has strained the muscles not me lol. Grabbers are brilliant and I have several dotted around the home. I also have a dressing stick which is my best gadget and couldn't live without it. It is a piece of dowling wood approximately 1.5ft in length with a hook at one end and a rubber finger bobbin on the other end. Doesn't sound much but for taking socks off and pulling your knickers up it's brilliant.
I hope you are doing well.

I'm over a year post-op, and still occasionally use my grabber - such a useful bit of kit.

checking in with you ...
I agree with previous posts that it might be overstretching of perhaps tissue and muscles ... it is still so fragile ...
the toothache like pain would make me make an appoitnment with surgeon though ... just to make sure ...
can you put full weight on operated leg ?
please let us know how you are getting on ... and do get the back scratcher ...
big warm hug

Hi Angie,
I am nearing the 3 week mark post op too and was feeling in great form on Monday and thought I could take on the world😂😂
I called into work to do a few bits as I still do paperwork at home but ended up helping for a few hours as it was busy(cafe)
I just stood at till but yesterday I paid for it!!
It's amazing how we do silly things like thinking we can do our normal routine! My hip was in so much pain yesterday but i think it was the muscles that were complaining, so I think it's your muscles too!
We all want to think we are ok but our bodies stop us and tell us to watch what we are doing and don't do silly things😂😂
Hope you are feeling better today and the pain has stopped😘😘😘😘

Hi Stargate fan
I'm feeling much better now and reassured I haven't done any serious damage thanks , I will be getting brain in gear before doing anything silly in future ! Hope you are well rested following your day at the cafe , it's so easy to push ourselves too far without realising due to being in pain pre surgery and post op we feel we can take on the world as you said , best advice is we need to listen to our body and be patient , we want to run before we can walk ha
Big Hugs and God Bless You .

We all forget at times, if you have a grabber use that to scratch the foot and get someone else to moisturise your foot for you to ease the itch. Good luck hun xx

Hi my hippy friends , thank you for your advice and concerns , I spoke to pt and nurse and they have reassured me I have at worse pulled a ligament but most likely strained healing tissues , I have learnt my lesson and will be using grabber in future, guess I got a little complacent , I'm back on track and hope you are all making good progress , Onwards and upwards guys n girls !

there you go !!!
My feet were like orphans for a while --- They begged to be held, massaged etc. and I couldn't get to them ....and since I live alone, there was no one I could ask ...
I am happy for you that all is well ... our body is an amazing wonderland, isn't it?

Ha ha you put it so well Renee , I have a skin condition that causes severe itch so what with white anti DVT socks n being hot in bed I was at war with my feet ,I found a long handled hair brush that allows me to reach without straining, hope you are making good progress too 😀
