A Week to Forget

Hallo All. This is being typed in a big hurry before I lose all contact with the outside world again!

This week the TV, Sky and internet ( not same Provider ) all packed up. TV now replaced.Internet connection. don't ask . Present speed is 1.8 mbps. but at least it's a connection. Virgin say it's BT's fault and I believe them but they don't do line checks weekends and expect to wait three working days. Good old privatised services.

Right. Rant over. I'm now going to read all your posts that I have missed and hope to be able to reply where appropriate.

Have a good weekend. BettyE

Welcome back from the edge of the modern world!

In between our old house in the N of E and here we lived for a few months in a 2-up 2-down terrace nominally in the same area as the old house. Difference? A mile further away from the telephone joiny-uppy box so the internet speed was more crawl than high-speed (and at 50yds from the box it was pathetic, not the up-to-speed-X claimed that we were paying for). We discovered just how much it would cost to get the phone in our name (just for flicking a switch) and said \"when hell freezes over, we'll manage with the mobiles\". We got a plug-in key which we could use anywhere with the laptop and attached it with a cable to the big computer because the signal was best in the window (4ft thick walls!).

Far cheaper and much more reliable - I recommend one. We now also have a pay-as-you-go version here in Italy for emergencies. Or to check if there are emails at the caravan - then we go to the on-site cafe with free wifi to download them!

Oh Boy, what an opportunity to shout at everybody, then apologise for shouting and having a good laugh later. Does wonders for your endorphins (don't ask) I don't know what they are either, but heard it on the telly.

Yup, noticed your up and running again.

Hehehe! Lovely things endorphins! You make them in response to stress (having the good shout MrsK!) and high level exercise (marathon runner's high) and they are the body's natural opiates givng you a natural \"high\" (one obvious form of exercise with a natural high point will, however, remain unmentioned here  even if it DOES produce them). Eating proper chocolate and also chillies also stimulates your body to make them so I shall enjoy my favourite chocy (70% dark chocolate with chili) even more!

    Happy Mothering Sunday everybody :bubbly:

Oh I tried that chocolate Eileen and I didn't like it.......and I thought I liked everything with even a hint of chocolate. Hubbie didn't like it either and couldn't find anyone who fancied it so had to throw the rest of it in the bin - that really went against the grain....hate wasting food especially expensive G&B's chocolate.

I've just increased my feel good endorphins with a very brisk walk (\"just can't think what your \"unmentionable\" exercise could be! :winksmile and, oh boy do I love having my old legs back! :D ); hopefully I've burnt up a few special lunch calories too with my lovely son who is very improved thank goodness, still having a strange sort of catch-up feeling on turning his head sometimes but is going to be checked out by an ENT specialist especially before any more trips to the State (happy Mum :D ) - can't quite believe he started back to work and the gym and playing league football after only one week when the London Ambulance guys told me it would take six weeks but good for him! smile

Yes, happy Mother's Day to EVERYONE!

MrsO - what a waste! I found it a few years ago when it was new, in my absolutely favourite village shop ever (the other side of the mountain here, stinks to high heaven of mountain cheeses and Speck and everything   ) and fell in love with it straight away. It's actually quite difficult to find - ordinary supermarkets don't keep it but the tiny, tiny shop in this village mostly has it (it's about the size of my living room! What the UK has lost in their little shops!!!

And the answer to still having funny bits if he turns his head is - DON'T DO IT! Glad he's doing so well,

    Still drooling,

Mrs.O So glad your son is catching up. My ultra slow internet connection will know just how he is feeling. There is a sort of time lag while it gets itself together. i player? Forget it.

Chilli with chocolate?? Always knew I didn't fancy that. Both very good with other connections, though. Have to get my endorphins some other way!!
