A weekend away?

Posted , 6 users are following.

I have the chance to go away for a weekend with friends, staying in a friendly pub. It will be just over 3 weeks since my op so think I'll be okay for a car journey by then.   BUT ...my concern is the toilet!!

I don't really want to take a toilet seat as part of my luggage, but cant imagine it will be okay by then to use a 'normal' height loo!

Has anyone else faced  this dilemma??

Hi .  I went to visit family two weeks post op and although it was only for day, it was fine. Didn't find toilet a problem. Just make sure when sitting down to extend operated leg in front. Make sure you rest. And listen to your body. Enjoy and have fab time x

    Hi RosaLee.

I'm 7 weeks post op & still find it difficult to use a normal height toilet. Even disabled loos are no better in fact sometimes they are lower but most have bars which you can hold onto. It may be better to take your raised seat with you just in case.

Car journey should be ok if it's not too far but maybe stop & have a walk round if it's a long way.

I hope you have a great time away, just don't overdo it.

Good point about stopping for a walk. Journey is about an hour and a half, so a coffee stop and walk around on route might be best.

      Thanks Val x

Only a few weeks down the line for me but having to face the same situation in two weeks time.  Am definitely taking my toilet seat. It's not worth straining the new joint so soon.  Good luck with journey and plan toilet breaks to stretch back etc.

    Hi

Enjoy the trip...as Linda wrote you need to extend the op leg just like you do getting in/out of bed. Lucky as a guy l can pee standing up...but for poos normal loos were fine with care!
