A year on sertraline...fully recovered but suddenly feeling weird

Posted , 4 users are following.

I started taking 50mg sertraline at the end of November 2016 for depression panic attacks and severe anxiety.

I upped my doses slowly as it cured my depression almost overnight

Then at easter this year I upped to 100mg hoping to get rid of the anxiety

It helped but not 100% so in august I upped to 150mg...bingo

Apart from a few bad days a month I thought I was home and dry

Then five days ago I started feeling very weird

Nott sressed not pannicky or anxious....

As if all of them put together...but manageable...I know it sounds weird

I've googled...and came up with jitteriness????

I am starting to feel better now again

I feel as if I don't need to up to 200mg

Do you think it was a blip?

Or would you suggest also taking an anti anxiety tablet when I have bad days....would really appreciate your replies😇

Honestly, I think if you are doing well most of the time, it was just a blip.  I've been on 75mg since March 2017 and now I am about 50/50 on how I feel.  My psychologist and neurologist both mentioned moving up to 100 mg.  My PCP handles my meds so I was going to get in and talk to him.  If all I ever have are a few blips here and there, I am ok with that.  My anxiety and depression before the meds was a daily occurrence and I would be up days at a time.  To your second question, absolutely.  I see nothing wrong with an occasional extra antianxiety med.  My doctor gave me a very small prescription of Ativan.  Just knowing I have it seems to help a lot.  I still have some left.  I only use it in an emergency, 0.5 to 1 mg.  I wish you the best!

    Hi Kieran

I've been on the mess for a year too and have stabilised on 125g for the past 6 months, I had sometimes have down day typically before a period and when I stop exercising and eating well. I had a full blown anxiety attack just before. I went into hospital for minor surgery and that was weird after not experiencing one for a long time. it's ok to have off days this is normal , I wouldn't rush to take something else I would monitor how you go and see if it is a one off you also still have the option to up your dose slightly, I would be more inclined to do this than start something else, however you do what you feel is right for you. Xx

      Thank you Kerry

I will speak to my doctor

Its so bloody disappointing...I thought I was out of the woods so to speak

Sertraline has been pure magic for my depression and panic attacks

      I've been feeling brilliant since august...then suddenly....boom

Hopefully its a blip...I will give it a few days if it doesn't lift I will talk to my doctor....thanks Kerry....would appreciate a reply😇

    Hi 👋

I would say it’s a blip. The season change don’t help. I am on sertraline for the second time, currently week 4 of 150.

When you need to up your dose you’ll know. My bad day came end of September  this year and never went that’s why I’m back on it.

It’s ok to be up and down. When it’s affecting your daily life then go back to docs and maybe up your dose. X

      Thank you kerryhs

I feel like I don't need to up to 200mg

Maybe I should take a small dose of an other anti anxiety med

my anxietys through the roof as I am writing this

In a weird way as bad as it is its not going in to full blown panic

its just a vicious circle at the moment

      I would really appreciate a reply😇
