Abdominal burning/general odd body burn after 2 days of .5?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hello all, I am at the end of my rope.  This started the day I first took .5 citalopram - I took it for 2 days total before stopping it.  3 years out gastric bypass.  Thought it was from surgery.  Burning across entire gut (navel and out around), sometimes an odd burn in arms and chest/back too but mostly confined there.  Had abdominal CT, xray, and stomach endoscope, all cam up negative.  This is causing me very high anxiety.  Has anyone else had this - please I am desperate and in tears all day.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I have had tremendous heart burn and abdomial pain, but I stop[ed taking this 2 weeks ago after 7 years and I just feel tired, dreadful and flu like, I have stopped completely to see what would happen, but the results aren't good. Take good care of yourself. x

Citalopram can cause a stomach upset; nausea, change in bowel movements, etc etc. If you were only on it for two days though it's unlikely to be down to the Cit.

If you've had a CT, X-Ray and Endoscopy you've obviously brought this up to your GP and he's referred you for it? You need to go back to him, mate. Hoping you feel better soon.

I had dreadful indigestion pain when I first took the meds, like a real gnawing in my stomache, and took Gaviscon antacid for weeks until it settled.  Some people are more sensitive to the meds.  It does ease off after a few weeks.

    Hello

Having had a similar experience with Cit which affected my appitite, with nausea and loads of stomach gas long with other side effects not relative to your case.

Although not exactly the same as you are experiencing the effect commenced co-incidenally with an onset of a higher does of Cit increased from 5 to 10mg per day.

What i will say your discusions appear to have been similar to those i have had with my GP with scans and endoscopothy suggested and some booked.

I stopped taking Cit after atemptingto fight the side effects for 4-5 weeks I am now on day 45 ish and it is now only the last few days where i am beginning to feel almost back to normal.

due to the co-incedence of your symptoms  coming to the fore and the commencement of Cit be assured that the drug is the most likely reason!!!

For me and others getting from were you are will be a difficult trip but be assured that you are far from being the only one who has had the type of experience that you are going though.

    I hope this helps!!

Dave: thank you so much for your kind words. It is helping with my anxiety. I have an ultrasound tomorrow and colonoscopy next week. I just can't believe this is happening after only taking it for 2 days! The ct xray and endoscope coming up normal only furthered my anxieties. Saw doc again yesterday. She setup the ultrasound but had no idea why this is happening. Its been 7 days but feels like forever. Thank you again for sharing.
