still have the pain at that incision section and it has been 6 months at the beginning it was really hard being 63 and other health issues and no help. I do not know you may need to see your surgeon about that issue. Best of luck and get well soon.

    Hi Donna

I'm 3 weeks post TAH and think I know where you're coming from.

I was having lots of aching in my abdomen and back. am really starting to feel so much better now though.

One thing I did was to always take some ibuprofen and paracetamol before bedtime- for me it was the only way of getting comfortable enough to get a good nights sleep. Also, I've been religiously doing all the exercises the hospital gave me and I think that has made a huge difference too.

Maybe give those ideas a try but if it doesn't improve a trip to your GP might be in order,  just to rule out infection.

Hope you're feeling better soon x

Hi Donna I had a hysterectomy eleven years ago abdominal like you and I was crying all over the place. One of the nurses told me it was the after effects of the a anaesthetic in your system and its a huge trauma to your body. Keep doing your excercises and don't go lifting anything. I can remember trying to do things and then feeling like a my insides had gone all funny and being wiped out for the rest of the day. The excercises for your lower half are really important. Take care

      You'll get there smile x

I've had a few bad tearful days as well,  think it's normal- we've had a big op...but also I remember thinking that I have felt rough for ages but on actual fact it was a few days, it's like time slows down sometimes whilst we are recouperating?

Things seem to change quickly and this time next week you might feel totally different.

Hang on in there- happy to talk again xx

It's nice to talk to people who have had the same

They said my uterus was stuck to my bowels also they found stitches in there of a thick nylon which never dissolved andxwould have been causing more pain so the op took an extra 45 min at least, the last op I had was 17 yrs ago

I live in tasmania and it far away from the real world lol

Thnx nicky (my actual name)  xxx

But seriously,  really only people that have gone through it know 'what the deal is'.

I'm sure you will feel better soon.

      Did they retain your ovaries?

I'm in Derbyshire UK, a good distance from where you are huh?!

Hello, Donna, gas and constipation can cause this terrible pain. Esp. on walking or moving around in general and especially at this stage in  your recovery. Could that be the case? If so, you need to keep moving around and to use something to help your body resolve those issues. Gasex, prune juice (lots of it), dried fruit, Patak's curry! Whatever works! Problems with gas (worse post laproscopic procedure in particular) can bring a full grown woman to her knees!

      Hiya Kathy

Did you have the ovaries out too?

I had my TAH with conservation of ovaries  4 weeks ago and I remember around day 5 starting with very emotional moments and also horrendous sweating at night. Luckily, mostly it only lasted a few days and on the whole I feel good now, although still have an occasional wobble smile

I was told that the ovaries are quite sensitive to the rigours of surgery,  and it's quite common for them to have a little nap after the op!

Obviously,  if they took the ovaries then you are likely to be heading into menopause and I'm sure the doctor can help with that.

Hope you are feeling better soon x
