Abdominal hysterectomy done 1 week ago - Pain!

Hi i had a TAH done last Friday, i had a 5 week history of right sided pain.

I'd been hospitalized, scanned, tested etc for 10 days.

I have a family history of ovarian cancer - my Mom died at 66 from it.

No tests came back positive but there was a large mass that was/ wasn't a fibroid

anyway to cut a long story short I was was off work waiting for the pain to recede and had a total hysterectomy 4 weeks later.

I was told afterwards that the fibroid had squashed my uterus to twice its size but had also compressed my bowel causing it to be red, inflamed and 4 times its normal size.

They took samples from my omentum and pelvic washings as well as biopsies from everything else.

I have about 30 clips in my abdomen and am very bruised and battered.

Getting up and down is agony and my GP reluctantly gave me Oromoph while making me feel like i was being a hypochondriac!

When does this agonizing movement and mobilising get better?

Hi, shame, shame, shame on your dr. You have the right to medicines to get the pain under control and your dr should work with you willing. You have the right to be treated with dignity and respect! Be assertive with your dr and insist they help you to their best abilities. If I were you, I would take notes of your dr visits, his comments etc. Cant tell you the duration of pain or recovery, sorry. Ask your dr and insist he gives you a projected time frame. Best of luck.

Hi Teresa 84306 a couple of weeks ago I had a fall from a very big horse & got a very badly strained leg & a small crack in my lower pelvis & having a lot of trouble trying to walk which is extremely painful to put weight on my right leg. Today (27/6) I have been for some physio & I am a shadow of my former self reduced to walking with a crutch for the first time in all of my years on this dreary planet- so know how you feel
