Abdominal pain that moves around

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi

Over the past couple of months i have started getting persistant pains in the upper abdomen. They can be felt in the centre, left or right. It is sometimes a burning, dull ache or slight stabbing. The pain seems to move around. I sometime feel it around the belly button also. It is generally worse after eating but i dont't get bothered by it when in bed. When i wake up in the morning it is not to noticeable but then gets worse throughout the day. After a meal i sometimes get a burning/pressure in the lower chest. The odd time there is very slight pain in a shoulder and back. Never feel sick and have not lost my appetite. This past week i have also been slightly constipated. I have been to the doctors and given blood, urine and stool samples but all has come back fine. I am 32 years old. I am waiting on an ultrasound but that is not going to be for a few weeks.

    Hi,

have you been belching a lot? heartburn?because upper abdominal discomfort, heartburn and belching can be symptoms of GERD.

I've been dealing with it for two months now. My stomach also rumbles occasionally. and I have some occasional heartburn too. do you experience something similar?

      Hi Tzumi

I dont have any excess belching at all. Just persistant gnawing feeling in upper abdomen that can move around. I do get heartburn though. I have been given omeprezol to take but does nor seem to do much.

      Have you been diagnosed?

yeah I've been diagnosed with GERD and I'm on omeprazole currently. I got my blood work done which came out normal. I still have this upper abdominal discomfort though. in my case it doesn't exactly cause much pain rather it feels more like a lot of pressure in my upper belly (just below the ribs) and its more prominent in the centre and milder at the sides (and its not getting better even with the consistent medication). also excessive belching which is very annoying and occasional heartburn.

I used to have morning headaches but that's better now.

similar to you, I don't feel any pain or discomfort when I lay down and it worsens when I slouch.

I'd say my symptoms don't exactly make me feel sick but they're VERY uncomfortable. I'm planning to visit a GI specialist soon for another diagnosis.

      Good luck!!

      Tzumi xx

      Thank you Tzumi

All pretty much sounds the same as me. No pain as much, just gnawing/burning. I will see what happens with my scan in a couple of weeks and message back

Where exactly is the pain concentrated most of the time? Upper or lower abdomen? Left or right side?
