Abdominal sutures after hepaticojejunostomy are causing pain under my scar

Posted , 3 users are following.

I went to see my Surgeon on this past friday to see why I still have some pain, nausea, chills, and a small fever. It has been 9 weeks since my hepaticojejunostomy surgery. On the whole I FEEL MUCH BETTER..My surgery was textbook,SO FOR THAT I AM THANKFUL.

I got lucky that my surgeon is wonderful.

I had an mrcp that only showed a small amount of inflammation and my bloodwork was normal.

My main issue besides nausea and the chills is pain under my scar.My abdominal sutures are raised and must be hitting nerves. The section of sutures is about the size of my pinky.

I am hoping with time that the sutures will settle back down and stop causing pain.

I was hesitant to contact my surgeon, because it was not an emergency.

I advocate for myself and will listen to my inner voice.IT HAS BEEN RIGHT EVERYTIME..

I cannot stress enough that people that are having continued issues must continue to seek help.I am blessed that my Gastro( personally calls you back) and he personally sat with me and went through every ctscan, ercp, and mri scan to figure out what my problem was, he referred me to a teaching hospital with a specialist , A LIVER TRANSPLANT SURGEON, that also does biliary surgery. My surgeon is fantastic, tells me to text him if I have any issues.

THERE ARE GREAT DRS OUT THERE..You just need to find them.

Best wishes..debra1711

    Dear Debra1711,

You are very please to have a great doctor. I am sure they will find out what is causing the pain. its been 7 weeks since i had mine removed but i am struggling with the nausea. it started to fade 3 weeks ago I let all the medications they gave me go but then up ubtil three days ago it all came back... loss of appetite, upper tummy pain, weird sounds and burning. I am so depressed! they keep telling me it takes 3 to 6 months for the nausa will go away. My question to you ma'am is what did your doctor say about your nausea?

I am frustrated with the nausea..It was gone for 4 weeks..started up last week again. The rumbling of my intestines drives me crazy too.I still have no appetite but am finally eating more than 1x a day.The burning isnt so bad anymore either. The nausea ,he thinks is caused by my infection/inflammation and maybe the medication ( actigall)

I am stopping the actigall becuase it has cause me to gain 12 pounds in a week, which should not be possible since i eat about 800 calories a day. I hope that the nausea goes away soon.
