Abnormal Liver Function for myself and 2 siblings. Father has PBC, AIH and mother has fatty liver

Hello all,

Im a 32 year old healthy male, non smoker, non drinker, pescatarian and non drug taker. I went fro a full health assessment this year. Everything was normal but had slightly elevated liver enzymes:

  • Gamma GGT 230
  • AST 56
  • ALT 176

Ive had repeat tests and the Gamma is still raised so having further blood tests to investigate. My brother and sister both have had similar results and my sister is needing a scan. In addition my father has PBC and AIH and my mother has fatty liver. My doctor doesn't seem to interested in these aspects and seems to be suggesting anemia? Which they are testing for.

I'm wondering if anyone on here has had similar results or has been faced with a similar situation?....My feeling is that it may be an idea to see a specialist to see if there is some kind of hereditary aspect to this.

*Note - 10 years ago I had similar results but the billarubin was also raised.

Thanks

Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency is inherited and can cause elevated LFTs. See if your doctor will refer you to a gastroenterologist for a liver study. I battled for three years to get my doctor to check my liver. Good luck.
