Abnormal Smelly Vaginal Discharge.....blamed on weight?

Hi there....I have had abnormal smelly vaginal discharge since the age of 13/14.. I started puberty at 11. I am 29 and still have the problem. I have never had sex because of this problem and because of weight issues. I have had countless swabs taken and everything comes back negative for thrush or BV..I know it is not an STI...At first it was greyish and smelt awful, like fish but over the years has became yellowish and smells like ammonia and slightly fishy. I have had to wear pantyliner's,3 a day, even in bed after showering but am now on 5-6 a day because it is so much worse.Even after showering I stink,if I open my legs, clothed or not it stinks. It is also noticeable through my clothes so I have to change undies and trousers every few hours. I have had this more of my life then not so really don't know what is normal except for the info I've found online...clear or white with no odour..Mine can be clear, heavy and white and sometimes a slight yellow/green stringy like discharge but then is yellow on my panyliner's. I also get a lot of white stuff around my vulva/clit area which I presume is maybe just where its building up during the day??.

.I have PCOS so haven't had regular peroids either.. My doctor in January told me that this discharge is caused by my "excessive" washing...All I do in the morning is use a flannel and warm water to wipe the vulva area BUT I only started doing this because of the smell so it didn't cause it,then she blamed it on my weight because I have large thighs/mons pubis etc because I was 25st when I plucked up the courage to go back after about an 8yr gap of not going back to the doctors..I had a Gastric Bypass in February and have lost 7.5st plus the 5st I lost before so am now 12.7ish at present...a lot smaller than I was at 13/14 so the weight has noting to do with it in my opinion...of course now my Mons pubis is huge and loose and the skin/fat on my thighs is huge and loose so that I suppose no air still gets down below.....what I wanted to know was if anyone else has this whether you are a larger lady or not...I feel I am never going to be able to have a physical relationship though I know loads of large ladies have sex lives so why don't they have the problem.I am so desperate for children(If I could now conceive with the weight loss...though I need a guy for this obviously)...my doctor is useless as far as I am concerned and am wondering if I should,or rather can I demand to see a gynecologist??...I'm sorry for so much information but I am by no means a prude and nothing phases me so I hope I have not offended anyone....thank you smile p.s I am now having regular periods, not always the same time each month but each month none the less....yippie smile

Hi I would change doctor and demand to see specialist as it not normal. I would also cut down the washing and try using biofem flora to reset your ph balance down below. My friend suffered with thrush all the time but always came back clear she used this stuff and drank aloe Vera she ate very healthy which seems to help

hi i am 54 years old and have always had that problem and my ob/gyn and my family doctor both say it is nothing to worry about but if it makes me uncomfortable I should lay with nothing on my bottom but a cool rag for a few hours a day or at night. It did help with the swelling but you cant just do that whenever you like you have a lifel It is frustrating to keep hearing close to the same with every doctor and specialist I have seen and now I have had a complete hystorectomy they took my uterus and both ovaries but I hate to tell you I have the same problem it did not get rid of the discharge, itch or smell.

Of course you can demand to see a gynecologist. That is the first thing I would have done if I had your situation. Is just common sense. Not sure about your doctor, but doesn't seem to be the right one. Just get rid of him.

For all my medical examinations I go to Walk-In Clinic in London. They are very friendly, and useful, as always find the right treatment for you. If you are from London or just coming sometimes, you might want to walk-in and have yourself checked.

    Wish you all the best!

P.S Don't let things like this to make your life less lively!

I am nearlly in tears after reading this post. I have been having this exact and i mean exact same problem gor so long now. I am 19 and was diagnosed with pcos when i was 14 and ever since that i can remember having this problem. I have searched all over the internet to find if anyone was suffering to and this is the first one ive found which explains it so even though im sad we are both suffering im happy to finally know its not just me. I have been doctors lots of times and also each time been told i do not have bv or thrush. The doctor has then just told me there is nothing to worry about. Its completely distroyin me as a person and as only 19 its depressing me as its becoming a major issue in my life. I have to change my underwear three times a day as they smell also the discharge is always different but mostly yellow coloured. I have been doctors many times in the past regarding this and at one appoibtment i actually anything the doctor telling me i needed to see a councellor as it may be all in my head. I have since not been back. I have no faith at all in doctors it almostdo see seems as if they dont know whats causing it they say anything to shut you up. I wear 12/14 clothes and weigh 11stone. I have also been told it may be due to weight and healthy eating. (excuse me for all spelling mistakes)

Omg I'm so glad I'm not alone! I've had thrush on and off for the past 6 months but when the canestan didn't work I went to the docs, they took a swab and phoned to get the results and they came back as normal with no further action needed. My issue is that i still have the discharge and occasional itching sad can anyone offer any advice?

Yes, definitely try different doctors and specialists until one of them helps.

All doctors DO NOT KNOW ALL THE ANSWERS. They only know what they have been taught or have encountered along the way. Regular douching may also be helpful. Not sure if they are approachable, but many times family members may have experienced the same.

Try inserting 1 Bio-K yogurt pill in your vagina envy night before bed.  Mine was gone in two weeks.  I bought the maximum strength available - it contains 50 Billion bacteria to fight the odor causing bacteria.  My problem was gone in 2 weeks - I continued to take them about 2 weeks after odor was gone and it has not returned

Girl, I've had the same problems. Since I was a kid and had PCOS symptoms since i was 12. I haven't been diagnosed yet but the sonogram tech told me I had what looks like the start of PCOS. I went to a doctor won't the same problem, I was swabbed and came up as a yeast infection. Which I am more prone to than other women. I took a pill to get rid of it and I saw only a minuscule improvement. I wash myself with my body wash and summers eve wash and use summers eve wipes. Summers eve is specially made for your vagina. And I think it might be making it worse too. But just water and a wash cloth don't seem to get the smell away nearly as well as scented washes. I think my smell maybe has been getting worse as I age also (I'm 22). I was thinking maybe the worse my PCOS gets the worse I smell. I take a shower before intercourse and wash my vagina multiple times to get the smell out. And I noticed after sex its back. So the smell is coming from inside my vagina. Not anywhere else. My boyfriend says he doesn't smell anything even when he's giving me oral and even when I know I'm at my smelliest, he checks for me (weird right? We're just that open with eachother) and he promises me it smells really really good to him. . So I can also see why you said the doctor thinks it might be in your head. Everyone I have came across that have the same problems we have can never find a right answer. But what I can say is that everyone has their own distinct smell. A vagina isn't supposed to smell like roses. So even if we smell like fish, it's normal for us. Cause that may be what we naturally smell like. I've noticed eating certain things make my vagina smell like that food. Garlic makes my vagina smell like garlic. Mucinex makes my vagina smell like that medicine. Unhealthy processed foods will also make your vagina give off a funky odor. Just like semen will taste horrible when you have sex with your partner when they eat horribly. Which is what I experienced with my man, he eats worse than me. Just don't beat yourself up about it but at the same time still look for the right help.
