Abnormal taste on Sertraline?

Posted , 2 users are following.

I've been taking Sertraline for a few months now and the side effects had mostly subsided thankfully, got a new prescription this week and I now have a permanently salty taste in my mouth, anyone had any experience of this? Doctor and Pharmacist were not really that forth coming with advice. Any idea how long this might last? Thanks

It could be a different manufacturer that made the sertraline. Sometimes companies that make the tablets use different fillers in the medication and it could be that you may be reacting to the new prescription differently then the first few? Anyway I couldn’t tell you how long the taste will last, could be a day or two could be a week or two.

Thanks for the reply. Pretty new to this and getting reliable information seems pretty difficult, both the Doctor and the Pharmacist sounded really unsure when I questioned them.

Totally get that, my Dr sort of failed to mention that I would go through hell and back for the first 3-4 weeks, but I guess they aren't exactly anti depressant specialists like a psychologist or therapist would be! Anyway good luck with all.
