About to start self-catheterization. Worried! Help/ Advice?

70-yr old male. Enlarged prostate & weak bladder, was "going" 12-15 times a day.
Had recent kidney stone surgery and post op cud not void. Several weeks with indwelling catheters & void testing-no luck. Had TURP surgery 2 weeks ago, no luck while in hospital.
Went home with cath. in & week later, voided a tiny bit when catheter removed. Sent home with no cath. in, but cud not pee rest of that day/night & ended up in ER where they put in another catheter (stll in).
Now in a few days, doc wants me to learn how to self cather. & start doing it, in hopes, I think, I will begin urinating on my own, bit by bit, til I get back to normal.
Worried on so many levels, based on what I've been thru so far.
Any comments/ advice appreciated,

@j3000 - There is a whole forum dedicated towards this topic. I too am new to this process and have been learning from others.
