hi fellow hippies

this is both a story and a warning.

Two nights ago I asked to go to the loo ( still have to go under escort ) rolleyes the nurse who took me tried to put me on a toilet sprayed with human waste. It was lucky I was so alert. I have yet again had to complain about things going on here week 5  begins tomorrow and now I do not care what they say on Tuesday. As soon as my brace is fitted I am out of here enough is enough frown

      Hi renee

I was made to sit there while they cleaned it up even though I was busting to go and you know you can't cross your legs. So more misery while you wait. sad

Abolutely horrendous.  It is little wonder that we have outbreaks of MRSA and whatever else.  Dehumanisng you by expecting you sit on all that, and setting you up for potential infection is even worse.

    Put it on Youtube!!!!

I would have a relative bring in a small camera for you.  This cannot be permitted to continue.  It's unacceptable.

I have my phone but don't take it to the loo I can't hold the phone and man over myself the way I need too and it happened at night.

Okay ....so, this is digusting and would have made me throw up and traumatized -

(I actually already am because I witnessed something in supermarket rest room)-

I know Hailea, that care on the ward where you are, well, lacks CARE -

Maybe the fault should be with the patient who used the toilet last - he/she could have told someone for making a mess... Maybe he/she did  and noone was available to clean it up right away ... not a fun job,but it has to be done , I fully agree -

On the other hand, we are all human and these things happen ...

Maybe we can try to be kinder, more tolerant and understanding of others ?

It is such a harsh world already ....

Don't mean  to patronize here, but sometimes my L.A.-L.A. energy returns -

(Out in LaLa land "they" call it ) -

I cut them enough slack as I can renee but that was unforgivable. There are paitents on this ward with dementia. Alsimers and other problems. If it was one of them I can't Blaime the paitent they know no better. But the nurses should notice any way. Not my job to point it out. But there was no way in hell I was going to the loo on that ! eek

Goodness Hailea, sounds like my hospital was The Ritz compared to yours.

It seems nearly every day brings another shock from you about the conditions in your hospital.

      Hi Graham

yes it is that bad some times I wish I were a journalist  and doing secret notes for the local paper I think folk waiting to come in would have second thoughts.

The pysio terrorists said to me yesterday they want to make sure I am safe before they will let me go home. I said to them I will be safer at home than I will be staying here even with my dogs to fall over no am going like it or not on Tuesday I feel I can't Fisk staying here any longer.

Maybe the nurse just didn't notice it? Not excusing this at all but its not feasible to clean the loo after every patient. I bet the nurse was mortified when she saw it and it's not a pleasant job to clean it up. Unfortunately hospital toilets have heavy traffic. It'll be much better when you get home to your own loo!

Isn't it part of a nurse's job to ensure that these facilities are kept clean?  We are supposed to have the best health service in the world, after all!

From what Hailea says, the nurse actually tried to put her on a toilet sprayed with human waste.  How can she possibly have missed it when she must have been looking directly at it.  Hailea would have had her back to the seat, and nurse looking directly at it.  Fortunately, Hailea does not appear to have been put in this position because she spotted it and raised an objection.

I'm not excusing it, just saying that it's not feasible to check the toilet after each patient. Maybe the nurse just didn't see it.

This being the case, the nurse should have checked the toilet before she tried to put Hailea on the seat.  She tried to put Hailea on a filthy seat having seen its condition.  That is the point.  Where are the cleaners in all this?  Are they not responsible for hygiene, and who is monitoring them?

Maybe I am being unreasonable in thinking that this basic level of hygiene should be a priority, when it clearly was not in this case!
