Accuracy of herpes test after 5 months?
Posted , 7 users are following.
I recently got a message from a past partner telling me to get checked for herpes 2. I was checked directly for herpes about 3 months after I encountered him because of a vaginal cut and my results were negative. And recently found out I was pregnant and was screened for any and all stds 5 months after we did anything that was also negative. I've read that you should get pretty accurate results 12-16 weeks after infection so I think I'm in the clear. But it's just in the back of my mind that I might have it?

Keep calm and take care of yourself.
Hopefully, you aren't infected & you and your baby are in the clear. From what the Center for Disease says you should get re-tested in six months to be totally in the clear. But from my experience take care of yourself and you will keep yourself healthy and you will know you are doing what you need to be doing to stay healthy.
??? Best wishes ???

HI how are you? That is great that you don't have it . Congratulations on your pregnancy and for being negative for herpes type 2. Please take care of yourself. This is a sign I believe .
I was diagnosed with herpes type 2 in 2014, after I found out I was pregnant . I was devestated. I had to confront my bf about it . And for him to get tested for it . And he claims he doesn't have it but I don't believe him . But he except's me as I am . And I'm happy about that. We have a beautiful daughter .

My Dr tested me for the level of the herpes. She said it was very low. It was like if I didn't have it. So , she told me not to stress.

Yes , girl. I was worried. But I followed my dr instructions . And it worked out very welcome. After, you give birth to your beautiful baby. Please don't let anyone Kiss, the baby on the face because ,You dont know who has hvs1. Its,very important.
I came, across to people I knew who get cold, sores and I told them. Don't kiss my daughter. And they didnt get offended. I had to explain why they couldn't . Some people don't know what HSV1 is. They think it might be dimple on the lip.
I came across to the news a few months back. A couple had a baby and the father had a cold sore on the lip. The father kisses his baby boy. The baby gets very sick. The herpes simplex viruse type 1. Has killed the baby. The,organ could not keep up with the, virus because it was, speaking internerly. It was very sad. The,father was,not arrested for the death of his bad, because he didn't know the HSV1 could be spead

If the test you had done was the IgG antibody tests for herpes, then you're good. The IgM antibody test is unreliable for herpes, however. So, it depends on the test type they did.

have you gotten retested after those five months? because I also got tested 5 months after exposure and it came back negative but I still feel like something is wrong with me.

hi Carla have you retested after the swab? Did u ever call the Dr and discussed the way they typed it? It was kind if misleading. nothing was detected tho.

I'm still waiting for my next doctors appointment but from everything that I've found 3 to 4 months is accurate. So I will ask to get retested just because I have started to see someone but I haven't had anything that looks like a sore. and I did call but they said I didn't have it. So that's why I was upset. because of the name of it but people seem to know that that's just the name of it. it's been a whole year and a half. when I thought I was fine my body stopped having symptoms but once I found those results it was like oh wait lets make you feel like you have something. So I feel like maybe it's all in my head. but I will keep you guys up dated when I go get tested.

thank you Carla please do. I want to trust the negative results. especially western blot at 1 year mark. I've had another igG with negative results for hsv2 at 15 months as well. the thing is I had something like a skin tag appear with a black dot in the middle. went to the dermatologist and he said it was a skin tag or mallescum and froze it off. It's been 5 weeks and it's hardly healing and the wound leaked a little clear fluid so my paranoia kicked in and got it swabbed lol. I'll have results next week. only thing keeping me sane is Dr said wounds from cryo would leak a little and did the swab for my own peace of mind. also it was litterly like a skin tag looking thing so I'm sure it wasn't hsv related because from what I've seen and read hsv would of been blistery or a bump. this thing was like a skin tag with a black dot. I too will keep y'all updated.
