Achalasia doctors In NYC

Hi everyone , I have been recently diagnosed with Achalasia and underwent a dilation. Though things are better now, I might have to get a surgery done in near future as I am starting to feel the symptoms back  .

Can anyone please recommend me a surgery specialist in and around Newyork city. I am yet to decide between Hellers and POEM but would like to meet the specialist for both.

    Sorry, I’m in the south. I would start by checking with the largest and most reputable institution in the New York area and call and speak with the department head and ask them who is the head person who does these procedures. That’s what I did. After I got my foot in the door I asked for recommendations at two other facilities and got a 2nd and 3rd opinion from some of the best in the country. I researched it and learned who’s who. I would definitely get three opinions from three who approach this surgery in different ways. That way you will know your options, educate yourself and chose what you feel is best for you. Everyone has to take charge of their health because if they don’t no one will. I’m a retired Cardio/Thoracic RN and have learned over the years that no one will do as good a job than the patient themselves. Also, I do know that Cleveland Ohio ranks top in Alchalasia. Research them and see what you find. Good-Luck.
