Aches and pains

I have suddenly gained a headache and my neck is really stiff!

My arms and shoulders are also really uncomfortable! Just ironing or carrying long got objects and my arms and shoulders ache! Not sure why! My pain is usually in my legs! That’s gone!

Have you seen a doctor to diagnose the problem? PMR is bilateral in shoulders and / or legs, but there are other things that could be the cause too.

You are aware of the potential for PMR to progess to GCA? The headache does concern me a bit. Especially in tandem with what sounds like a flare of PMR.

      I have PMR and GCA

Both we’re diagnosed last November 😟

live struggled to reduce the steroids but haven’t had headaches for quite a while!

I’m on 7mg do you think I need to up them?

Possibly - but you DO need to speak to your doctor about the return of the headaches. It could also be a touch of poor adrenal function - and if that is the case trying to wait it out might be better as if you raise the dose again the adrenals won't need to wake up until next time you reduce the dose - you will face that side sooner or later.

Forgot to say - you probably DON'T need to return to a really high dose but going back to where you had no symptoms and reducing slowly again might be needed. Hence why I say speak to your doctor.

Yes, it looks like you do need to increase in your dosage! If it were only a flare up if PMR, a few mgs would probably work for the aches and pains but as you've also had a bad headache, this concerns me. Would you say its the same as when you were diagnosed with GCA? If so, you'll need to increase to at least 60mgs to deal with it and not take any chances. Can you get to see your doctor/rhumy quickly?
