    Hi Dorrie

Did you have surgery. I was non surgery,in plaster for 7 weeks and then in a boot.

I had a lot of burning sensations around these areas,it is normal.

I was off work for 4 months.A lot of patience is required, don't force anything.

Stick by your physio when the time comes. Take care M.

      Hi Mark

I haven't had surgery. It's reassuring to hear the pain may be 'normal' I really have tried to take it easy as by 3pm it feels like the boot is made of lead as swells. All I seem to do is sit around!! Just such a long process. Thank you for comment and good luck on your own recovery

Hi. I’m 10 weeks in - non surgical. I had that sensation a lot, and all normal. I’m just waiting on physio and my boot comes off, yay 😀

Hi Dorrie .im a year on since a complete rupture of my right Achilles tendon ( shredded it !the dr said )and a partial rupture further up .i remember the burning in my heel made worse by not being able to scratch it as it was in the boot .it's normal but it was quite a while before it went away .

Yes it is a terrible injury

I tore my Achilles last year at the insertion 4mm partial... I didn't know I had torn it as I never dreamed in a million years that losing my footing while standing on threshold in doorway would do that.... I walked around for 3 months with the pain becoming increasingly sickening and a huge lump of inflammation formed on my heel... I ended up going to emergency as I could no longer handle the pain of trying to walk down stairs especially in the morning... doc said I made a bad thing worse by walking around on it for so long... anyway... I wore a boot cast for few weeks and did physio for 4 months and ended up seeing an orthopedic specialist after that as it was still so painful... he said more therapy, so off I go again... cripes... it's 14 months later and my heel feels no different... the pain is so unbearable at times I can hardly stand it... the burning is just awful... both my gp and ortho say it could be painful for a couple years or more... like ughhh... sorry for long reply... good luck
