Achilles rupture not healing very quickly anyone else had this?

I'm 4.5 weeks into my recovery and finally had a scan last Friday and got the results yesterday. I would of thought at this stage things would be healing, but my scan showed that it was a full rupture and my tendons aren't even connected yet!!! I have a blood clot between the two ends of the tendon. I'm feeling so gutted!!!! The 1st specialist I saw said that at 3.5 weeks I could go into a moonboot with 3 wedges and a wedge removed every week....... When I went back to see him at 3.5 weeks I saw a different specialist and he said I could go into the moonboot but don't need wedges (heel raisers) so he put my foot flat down!! I didn't feel good about this as I had a burning feeling so ended up asking my physio for advice and he immediately placed wedges in my boot and sent me for a scan. I cannot believe the difference in advice I have been given and not to mention NO Scan till after a month!!! Surgery was never offered, rather I was told that I'd be best without surgery (how on earth did they know that without a scan baffles me!) Anyway sorry for the rant, but anyone else out there healed like me (SLOW)

glad things are moving forward for you, lucky you. Back to docs next week with last heel lift to be removed. I hate started doing my own exercises with boot on and off no pain! Just want to get better quickly like you.
a friend of mine recently RAT In the same town and she had different advice again (private) and is still in her trainers finds it easier his is the route I will take when I get to no boot.

Change your doctor or ask to be seen by the original doc who gave you the heel lifts. I have jet to see a physio and can't wait to get started.
good luckNess

omg Ness that's terrible, are they going to do anything about the blood clot???
I can't believe that the doctor put you in a boot without any heel raisers after such a short time.
Did they say how long they think before the tendons start to connect.???
It is such a slow horrible process isnt it, i really feel for you as it happened to us both on the same day, I am just wondering when will i be able to at least weight bear even a little, my last plaster cast is not due off until around the 4th September, then what ?? will i be able to walk even a little then.... anyone know what happens after the final cast/ boot comes off.??

It is very frustrating with everyone getting different advise and treatment. I am supposed to be going on holiday on the 20th September and my last cast comes off on the 4th September , have no idea how mobile i will be then.

I know what you mean about the shower! So difficult - and I use a stool! Also sleep in the boot.
