Aching hip joint (?) 8 months after THR

I had my right THR in June last year. Apart from some muscle stiffness, which has mostly gone, it's been great. But in the last couple of weeks I've been getting a persistent ache which feels like it's coming from the area around the joint. I've heard that you can get pain as the femur regrows around the prosthesis, but I would have expected that some time ago. Has anybody else had anything similar?

MartinC,
Have you done any extra/different exercise, it can affect the hip if you have been on it longer. You will occasionally get the odd ache/pull every so often. I am sure it is nothing to worry about it will go off, take it easy.

Hi!
I had mi right hip replacement IN Aug 2018, and all was great, No pain, was perfect. But a couple of months ago had a piercing pain, felt as if it was running up from my hip joint to my buttock when I lifted my leg up onto the coffee table. It really was excruciating, and came and went over the next few days when I bent in a certain position.
Went to see my GP, who examined my hip and sent for an x-ray. All came back well, but he suggested I might have bursitis, and arranged for me to have physio.
Still waiting for that but have to say it has gradually got better over time.
Not overly worried any more.
I guess we have to expect some pain now and again, the consultant did sai it probably won't be as good as my hip was before the arthritis kicked in....
Good luck. I'm sure you'll be fine. Just give it time.
Pat xx

Had THR on my left hip March 2018. it's been good most of the time but if I over do it on a workout or stretch a little to far, the muscles in my leg seem to default back to being tight. sometimes this causes a dull ache around my hip, especially glutes and hamstring. It will usually clear up with a little rest. Sometimes it takes a couple weeks to clear up because I don't rest it enough. As long as there's no sharp pains or aching to the point you can't sleep or relax, its probably fine and just needs some rest.

I'm pleased to say that the pain seems to have gone away. The positive encouragement must have done the job!
