Acid reflux

I've has acid reflux for 4 years now, doctor said, and esophagus spasms for 4 years.. i did not get heart burn, so i guess i just been living with it, and got use to it ...I'm taking anti-acid over counter stuff now and got it under control. the real problem is it got on my voice box, I've been hoarse for 6 months now, i feel find just have not got my voice back yet ...suppose to get endoscope done soon....

    Hi you don't actually say what your question is, will this be the first medical test you have had for this and if so why has it taken so long for your doctor to refer you when usually acid reflux will give you heartburn or what I would call acid water swarms can think of an easier way to describe them but even then constant symptoms should be investigated.

    What does your doctor say is causing it

      Hi Alexandra,

      I get acid reflux some of the time but not with heartburn. Due to it not being a main symptom though, I haven't seen the doctor about it but, def not always accompanied by heartburn for me.

      Hi Beverly if you don't mind me asking, if you don't get heartburn or water swarms then what are your symptoms that lead you to believe with a doctors diagnosis that you have acid reflux

      Just asking so I can get a grip on why

      Hi Beverly that's what I call water swarms, what do you take for it and have you booked to get a proper diagnosis because it can damage your oesophagus and throat because its quite bad that it comes up to your throat and needs sorting.

      Thank you for your concern. I try to stick to advice of staying off caffeine, less alcohol, smaller meals etc.

      I also don't have milk or wheat either.

      I don't want an endoscopy, I had a colonoscopy and they're too invasive. I am aware of the triggers and try to be mindful of what I eat.

      I have cfs/me and my symptoms constantly fluctuate. I know someone else with cfs/me who also has cfs/me who also has acid reflux and had the endoscopy. It seems a symptom people get with it.

      doctor did not tell me the cause, plus i forgot to ask...my question is: how long before my voice will heal ???...i stopped eating fat, limit sugar and salt ... bland foods ..guy at work said takes 3 times longer for insides to heal compared to your outsides ...plus i think my flap is broken that lets acid into my esophagus...guy told me the muscle that works the flap can be worked on by running or exercise the flap, to flap back and forth to strengthen it ..
