acid reflux

good evening i have acid reflux have a wedge pillow and suffer from reflux badly during the night how does anyone sleep i sleep on my left side but am kept up three and fourtimes a night i take gaviscon and wake up with sore throat and pain in my head and back can anyone tell me what they do as im not getting lot of help from my gp many thanks jackie

      goood morning im suffering with acid reflul and feel awful been to doctors but hes not much good. I have swollen throat burning tongue and taken gaviscon and i keep burping broken sleep i have a wedge pillow but waking up three to four times a night and my head is feeling awful to plus nasal drop can anyone on here advise me if they are feeling same symptoms feeling down and dont know what else i can do thanks for any input

      hi are you taking anything for it like a PPI medication? this could help you can buy it over the counter

    Hi Jackie. You are doing the right thing and I had read somewhere sleeping on your left was better for reflux. I too wake up in the night with burning or burping. I take my PPI a couple of hours before bedtime and have the gaviscon when I want to go to sleep as you cannot take them together. I do have to reach for the gaviscon during the night too. I also do not eat any later than 5.30pm and have a last cup of tea at 7pm, after that just tap water. I have had 3 ops to try and remedy this condition but the last op came undone and created worse reflux. Good luck
