Acid reflux and menopause

Hi any body dealing with bad acid reflux and are post menopausal. It came on suddenly 5 months ago and wondered if this could be hormone related. Am on lanzoprozol. They work to a degree but still get symptoms of taste in mouth, mucous in throat etc. Thanks.

oh yes, Constantly for the past six months or so. I have been taking omeprazole every single day and it does help. If I forget once in a while, I get the sore throat, heart pain, chest pain etc. right back again

Yes - I have suffered on and off for several years. It started when I first started perimenopause and it was actually one of my first symptoms. It got better and basically went away but its reared its ugly head again these past few weeks. I am taking bio hrt and I think that is why it's acting up again. It's a bummer because other than that I am feeling much better on the hormones.

I take slippery elm and chew dgl licorice which helps. I also forgo wearing a bra if I can because I find that the strap constricts that area and will set it off. When its very painful (which it can be at times), I resort to 150mg of zantac and that will settle it down.

hi i have the slippery elm lozengers. They help to a degree. I didnt suffer reflux at all in perimenopause. Been post menopausal for around a year. Cant understand why it suddenly made an appearance!

I'm heading to get some of the slippery elm lozenges, thank you! I have slippery elm but would have to make it as a tea, so lozenges will be much more practical when out and about!
