Acid reflux despite negative tests.

I've been suffering from acid reflux for about 15 years, I'm on 30mg lansoprazole with 20mg of Famotidine. twice a day.

Its been getting worse and worse, I've constantly got indigestion, i am not over weight, i dont smoke, rarely drink, I've given up caffeine, i don't consume onions, tomato, garlic, sausage, bacon, smoked food, anything with a pastry, spicy foods, anything fried, etc etc

i was recently sent for a 24 hour PH test and Manometry test, my results have more or less come back negative, its showing mild reflux disease but thats all, they dont suggest any futher action. I cannot believe this as my life is miserable at the moment due to the severe acid/indigestion!!!

I cannot understand this as i have reflux/indigestion 24/7 ( typical, it wasn't that severe during the tests!)

I have an appointment with my consultant next week but i would appreciate any help/ advice that anyone can offer.

I have absolutely no other health issues.

    Hi,

I had these symptoms when I first started. I went through the RX with the doctors, and ultimately found that lime water (organic limes) with every meal helped better than the RX. Also try oil of Oregano pills. Along with changing my diet to just ORGANIC. You may also try a pinch of baking soda w/water. Things are much better now, and the reflux, slow digestion, feeling your food going down, and pain on left side don't happen much anymore. Hope this helps .

    hi

ive been suffering from reflux for only 12 months but its horrendous and depressing.

ive seen a few ent specialists and gps, had 2 endoscopies, 1 laryngoscope, 1 barium swallow test, all thankfully came back with nothing sinister but the symptoms havent gone away, just changed over the 12 months. constant throat clearing, pain under my sternum, similar to hearburn. ive tried gaviscon plus and emoprazole with no improvement. i was taking ramipril for raised blood pressure and have changed to something else in case thisnis causing the throat issues, i live in hope. im also going to try changing my diet, although i dont have spicy food, never smoked, dont drink much alcohol but i'll try to cut down on caffeine

    Hi,

I've had GERD for 2 months now and have been absolutely miserable. On top of that, it caused burning mouth syndrome. It came on suddenly either caused by anxiety and depression or new medication prescribed for it or combination. Still trying to figure it out. So far no relief and each med that's supposed to help is causing an upset stomach when normally I'm constipated. I haven't been able to leave the house or talk to anyone because it hurts so much and because after I eat, I get a stomachache. I had an endoscopy before this occurred so when I called my GI he says to take Famotidine. That's it! Right now I'm on Sucalfrate and Esomeprazole with little relief. I will have to speak to my PCP again tomorrow to find out next steps. I'm 62 and I have other medical issues but this one is making me suffer the most where I have no quality of life and no ending in sight.
