Acid reflux tonight making it so bad to breath. Help !

Hi ladies

Today I've been having awful heartburn.

All day I've had breathing restrictions . From 7pm tonight it's been so bad. I can't breath,my chest is so tight. I have a racing heart and felt so nauseous today.

I keep burping and it feels like a big air bubble is stuck in my throat. My nose burns and feels like acid in there so I find myself not breathing properly.

I've tried cider vinegar,andrew liversalts,gaviscon,ginger tea.

It feels like a heart attack.

You are in the UK? You may want to go your A&E if you aren't getting any relief. They may be able to give you something stronger. Sounds like you have GERD (gastroesphageal reflux disease) I have that also and it's horrible. It burns your chest, throat, stomach, nose, and it irritates the vagus nerve that can cause the racing heart. I think you should get it checked if you are not getting any relief.

I did 5 months ago but it wasn't nearly as bad then. It didn't really show much except a slight irregular sphincter. However my doctor thinks I should have another if none of my tablets work. She said to wait until 4 weeks. It's awful it's like I don't breath properly now ,I can't breath through my stomach and my throat feels weird.

Try aluminum free baking soda. It neutralizes acid. Good yogurt can also help. I went on a diet that eliminated sugar ,wheat, corn caffeine , dairy for a bit and reflux went away. Sleeping with head and chest elevated too. Trouble breathing and heart rate, tightness maybe anxiety? Worth investigating more with doctor - or checking with heart specialist to be safe if you haven't done as so as already. Blessings to your health!

Thankyou . I think I need to practice breathing properly. I've got the burning in my nose all the time so I find myself breathing strangely, like it's an effort. I'm not using my stomach muscles so I am shallow breathing. I just can't put it into practice 😕

The only thing that helped me was giving up dairy. It's not a problem now smile

As Kate says, bicarb of soda 1 teaspoon in a a big glass of water.

    Then ginger tea after food.

    Hope it's better soon.

    Dear Michelle

I would suggest you have an endoscophy done, if your sphincter isnt as it should be the reflux could be causing stomach acid to leak through. I have,a small hiatas hernia and peri reflux caused me to have gastritis. I once got esophightis (however yoy spell it) and i felt my chest was on fire and I was having a heart attack! I believe an endoscophy would be the best thing for you now x
