Acid regurgitation issue

Hi guys so I have been experiencing some symptoms of acid reflux since last week. Original I will always feel acid coming out from my throat regardless of if I am standing or lying down. I will also feel After taking Omeprazole for around a week I think my condition improved. I am only experiencing acid regurgitation mostly when I am lying down . However this means my sleep is highly affected. I have already stack my pillows but I am still waking up many times in the night , often unable to fall back asleep. I have no idea if this is due to acid reflux or anxiety. Will Omeprazole be able to cure the issue if I take it for a longer period of time ? I am a bit confused by the conflicting opinions regarding PPI.

I have seen 3 doctors and one of them has scheduled scoping for me on 3 Aug. Another diagnose me for allergy although I kept telling him that I feel things coming out from my stomach . Also this same doctor was advising me to continue his allergy medication instead of Omeprazole and he also told me to avoid going scoping if I can recover by then because scoping is invasive .

Do you all have any advice ? Really shag from not being able to sleep well for one week. Can't imagine the pain of those who had it for months or years

    Hi there,

First off I want to say that your doctor who's been telling you acid reflux is an allergy sounds like the kind of doctor which would misdiagnose cancer symptoms so he needs to be sacked.

Secondly, scoping is okay, if you get the sedative it'll be easy and you'll not remember a thing.

Thirdly, I'd see a upper GI/bariatric surgeon who specialises in your condition. I had surgey a few weeks back to cure my acid reflux because I spoke to the right person/doctor. Other doctors just want to throw medication at the problem.

    Hope this helps

    Ben
