Hello Everyone surprised

This is drastic situation my family has fallen into. My father was diagonsed with acoustic neuroma in Oct 2015 size(3.8*3.5*2.8), post which we got him admittedthe nero surgeon peformed VP shunt to lower the pressure and later performed a regular surgery to extract the tumor. Now post 4 months after the surgery he has problems like headaches and his body balance has changed, he has lost his sight and hearing capabilites with left ear. When performed a recent CT scan the size of the CT tumor (2.8*5.1*3.6) has increase drastically also mucus has started accumalting as per the reports. My doubt is can the tumor increase in such level with 4 months as it had been operated earlier?

Also why is pressure increasing, Can VP shunt  fail so quickly post it was installed? Is gamma knife possible in this case if I have to plan under the current size?

I really would appreciate any thoughts on this as i feel somewhere this could be handled better by the experts in the past. Please review my concern and help me here.

Your's Faithfully

I think your questions should be answered by doctors. I'm sorry, but I don't know the answers. Good luck to your father

Hey, I know acupucture can help with the swelling and mucus. Also the headaches. I'm just guessing that the balance and sight is due to the pressure against certain nerves. I'm not a doc. I do go to an acupuncturist and it does help and they can help. Make sure to find one that has practiced for years and his whole family, from generation to generation, as done this. I'm not sure about someone that has no family history in it. I'm sure they can be great but information and experience handed down is always better in my opinion. I know it Can be stressful. Do research on your own. Don't Let anyone tell you that acupuncture doesn't work because it does. And it is not always a quick fix. Some of the problems take time. Just stay encouraged.
