Acromegaly

Hi-I have recently joined this forum-I wanted to share information with any one who has been newly diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma and who is feeling bewildered and scared ,as I was when diagnosed.I found out I had acromegaly 12 years ago-I had been suffering sinus type problems and had an MRI scan ,in retrospect I had noticed my hands and feet getting bigger and my bite changing but didnt know what was causing it and put increased foot size down to having been pregnant and my body shape changing. After lots of tests I had surgery at Kings hospital in London, it was scary but everyone was brilliant,my endocrinologist was very supportive,I had a great surgeon and I had the best care-12 years on I am fine-I had to go for yearly tests but am now discharged to every 3 years-I look back on 2006 as a dark miserable year which we got through-so if anyone is going through a horrible time with a pituitary diagnosis I wanted to try and offer reassurance.Thanks-- Kate
