Hello All

Has anyone had acupuncture sessions for the pain / stiffness and do you think it helped?

My physio will try (three sessions) starting in a couple of weeks.

Thanks, Tracey 13+5

My sister thinks an operation would answer her prayers!....you wouldn`t recommend it then...she is 49 with OA....stiffness to the extreme!  They only offer her a drug which is a DMARD called Hydroxychlorine...no affect at all....no-one is listening to her......

My sister is having acupunture for knee pain/stiffness, and says it`s the only thing that gives her relief, and she`s in an awful lot of pain, with stiffness being very restrictive to her daily life!  Good luck.....

hi tracey ... i had my tkr on 9.9.14 and will be going in next tuesday to have it bent under anesthetic.  long story but in essence i never got the necessary bend, i am blocked at 100 passive and 90 active bend.

on the quest to have less pain and more bend, i had 6 acupuncture sessions with a highly qualified (prof. dr.) chinese man.  his treatments were amazing and i woud definitely recommend going to somebody qualified.  the first time i had to go home and i slept for 4 hours which is a good sign apparently.  the other sessions caused all kinds of results (give it 24 hours to kick in) from mental shifts to less pain and more bendability.

of course i don't know your physio but i think lots of people offer acupuncture and in all reality, they don't really know what they are doing (just like the beauticians offering permanent make-up and it ends up looking like two caterpillars walking over your face!!).  this is a highly complex thing to learn, have you ever seen the chart of all the points and meridians?  the only acupuncture i have ever had is with certified doctors and would recommend you to do your research thoroughly.

    Hi tracey

my mum has had it done done on her knee and since had her both knees scaned to see what there going to do with them but she had it on her right knee and has no pain or stiffness in at all and that was back in May and is doing really well with but its a funny thing acupuncture it can work on some people and they will get the best result and then it may not work say on me so look all u could do is give it a go and it take mum said 3 days to work on her fully just make sure u can go home and sleep after wards cause it's makes u tied for some reason good luck

My physio used acupuncture every time I went.  For me it really helps.  He told me 10 years ago they wouldn't have used it but have such great such with it.  Along with the acupuncture is went he added a heat lamp....felt amazing..  Definitely worth a try.   Good luck.

My best friend is an acupuncturist and I swear she's been a blessing with those little needles. She's treated me a lot in the past for different things and it really works. It's not just something to be done once though, you must keep it up for a while to see result xx
