Hi , I have had acupuncture and deep massage in the past with great success . Does anyone know if it's safe after surgery ?

Mary in my area acupuncture is offered on the NHS by Physio so why not ask yours about the safety. I feel so lucky not to be on pain killers anymore and feel for those who are still struggling.  Still got just over 2 weeks before my check up and hopefully restrictions lifted.  If he says I have to wait till week 12 I might put my crutches in an awkward place.  Of course it will not be his fault he has done his best with my crumbling bones and at least I did not sustain a feature during surgery.  Finding recovery frustrating even though I am doing well with walking

my sister in law is an accupuncturist and i was thinking of going back to her (she really helped ease the pain pre op) soon I dont see why it would not be safe.

Just read another post that some people had been told to be careful about picking up infection . Don't think there would be a prob tho

I am not sure about the massage on the operated side - would love to have one for my upper body though - Acupunture needles are the same or even thinner as those  Fragming injections so I don;t think infection is a problem --- have you had dry needling done ?

The fragmin injections are in sterile packaging, but not sure about the acupuncture needles.

Good morning ...I remember that thhe acupuncture needles were wrapped -  But yeah, I would definitely ask ... this was in California so I am assuming it is the same in the Uk and Europe ....  Dry needling is frequently used here in Holland .. I I never heard of it before (coming from Los Angeles) - prior THR surgery I had a couple of Physical Therapy sessions - my muscles were so short and tight - Therapist found tight muscle knots and used an acupunture needle and stuck it in the knot to release the tension .... it didn't help to relieve the pain at that time though but relaxed the muscle -
