Acute alcohol attack refuse ER
Posted , 10 users are following.
I had a flare of acute panc yesterday and now am working through day 2 of very uncomfortable panc pain and back pain. I refuse to go to the ER. Three years ago I was admitted for this same thing. Came out very dehydrated. On oxygen with pniemonia. I will not go back again. I have been resting. Nothing by mouth except small drinks of water and organic juice. My meds are Ibuprofen 600 every six hours which helps a little. Any thoughts on me not going to the emergency room?

These are the worst days 2-3.
Can you get a benzo?
Or Benadryl to put you to sleep?
I never did Benadryl but my friend does that all the time.
I am prescribed benzos...I always saved them for after a binge.
Drinking water....(they tell me at ER)...will rehydrate and stop the racing heart...and lower blood pressure.
I'm sorry your are suffering.

Been taking unisom to get through the night. Can't get any benzodiazepines. I hope this is a little better tomorrow. Think I may go get some alcohol help this ruined my whole weekend.

Well, my first thought on you not going to the ER, considering you had pneumonia last time, is ARE YOU CRAZY?
However, you could go and see your regular doctor, surely, for a diagnosis and better pain killers.
Ibuprofen is dangerous if you're addicted to alcohol!! Find another painkiller.
And drink lots of water or organic juice - not small amounts.
I totally understand why you don't want to go to hospital - my husband is an alcoholic and would rather die in agony at home than go to a hospital.
Here in the UK, alcoholics are routinely given benzos on admission until discharge.
Also nicotine patches!!
Hope things work out ok for you, Poppy. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm trying cantaloupe and prune juice. It just does not taste good. And I am belching a lot. Still have some mild mid back pain and under the ribs on left. Is lemon water okay?

Yea, I think once we agitate our pancreas....it can heal with a period of not drinking but crossing the line to chronic pancreatis would be bad.
I had pretty severe pancreatitis upon one visit to the hospital...however, I was lucky it was "acute".
?Glad you feel like a banana....

Good luck tommorow...AND just know (I know this doesn't help)...but if you lose it....don't drink (that is going to be tough advice to follow)......because something better will come along...if you can hold your head up and blame alcohol...instead of running to it.
I don't think you have lost it...I think they would have said....not to come in....period....You did say you had a Drs note?
Keep repeating positive thoughts....this too shall PASS.

Oh no. You are mistaken I was on vacation all last week. It just so happened I came down with an attack Friday while still on vacation. Work is totally fine. They don't even know about my attack. Nor will they. I have desk job with my own office. So I can bring my heating pad. Keep to myself and put a big smile on in the morning. I have kept about three attacks from them in the past three year. Chalked it up to stomach viruses.
