Post pardom depression? Anxiety and depression hit at the most in opertune times. It's important to remember it's not the end of the world and can be treated with meds. Get the notion of schizophrenia out of your head. Anxiety feeds off your fears. I realize it's easier said then done. In the mean time if you are able, get some xanex or kalonipin to help with the short term depression and anxiety. It will help you function with your day to day chores and responsibilities. It really eases things. You may want to talk to a therapist and or doctor about other meds that will help you in the long term. It's a terrible condition. But you can beat it.

Hi David,
If Elizabeth is in the UK she won't get Xanax or Klonopin.
Xanax, particularly, has not been shown to have any clinical indications or benefit.
Neither can people just ask to be prescribed benzos. They are now rarely prescribed here because of their addictive nature.

I am thinking that the recent stressful situation with your brother, added to the fact that you're a single parent, and probably lack of sleep due to the baby, are all combining to make you feel very anxious, and not surprisingly.
If you have post-natal depression, do talk to your GP and Health Visitor (if in the UK) or Primary doctor (if in the USA.)
It is very common for new single mothers to become anxious and depressed. Is the baby sleeping? Does the baby have a long nap during the day?
Are you managing to go out?
Medication for depression and meeting other new mothers will very likely help you. In severe cases your doctor may recommend therapy. This is free on the NHS although there may be a wait to get it.
Please keep posting so that we know how you're getting on.

Benzodiazepines are only for short term use. You can get addicted if you take them for a long term I would be worried if my doctor was prescribing them long term it can exacerbate your condition and add more bad symptoms even having more extreme anxiety than you already had. I've read alot of forums about it now they're in rehab or addicted to it not being able to weane off it since the withdrawal symptoms are terrible. I'm not a doctor just trying to add some advice before you fall into a pithole and go down that path. I was on Xanax and second time I took it I exceeded the dose. Took three instead of one. Then later saw they were so tiny pills I took many more. 6. They lose their function quickly so you start exceeding the normal dose.
Take Care everyone.👍Stay Safe

Been taking .05 mgs of xanex every morning g for the last 3 weeks. And a half a pill before bed time. No problems and have not lost their affect. I am not sure what you consider long term use but I have friends who have been on it for years and no problems. Very small doses will not hurt you. Doctor said not to worry about getting addicted at the dose I am taking. It doesn't make me fuzzy thinking like kalonipin and I am a true believer in xanex.

Long term use is being on it for more than 6 months which is what doctors recommend. Like you mentioned being on it for many more years I understand that people need it though that's why I would take mode but it's dangerous to be exceeding it without doctors orders. I knew I was heading too the wrong path so I don't take it no more.I have too feel the symptoms. The drowsiness to a state where I can be sleepy but walking. I think so too while you are in control. If you're not and you're like me don't do it. Good thing it's working for you👍 I always wanted to take benzos on the long term but I can't control myself and exceed the dose.

Definitely if you exceed the dose the xanex will make you sleepy. I took too many at first. Every time I had an attack I popped a xanex, and ran out far too soon and the doctor gave me a hard time about refilling. He then explained to me the proper way to take it. No more than 2 a day. Since the lexepro had kicked in the anxiety is evening out. So I have no reason to take the xanex other than what the doctor prescribed. Like I said, .05 mg won't hurt you. It's just enough to get past my shaky mornings and the half helps me sleep at night. The anxiety is always worse for me in the morning. But much better lately. Still dealing with some problems but I am definitely functional.

My Anxiety is because of Social Anxiety, GAD, Social Phobia amongst other things but I can't just take that amount. I feel terrible going out like I'm dying. I get panic attacks being near people. I need more that that. I'm not taking any medication I have Agoraphobia I have been stuck inside my house for 7 years. I tried Xanex but I can't exceed dosage anymore doctors told my mom to give me the exact dose that's the only way they prescribed it to me if she did it. Because of two previous suicide attempts. I od on Xanax and other medications. But that's my fault. Thanks for the advice though👍
