I would contact the British Lung Foundation for advice on your query.
You can have a normal spirometry but still have lung damage and breathing difficultty whether its from the lung damage or other, stopping your inhalers perhaps wasn't a good idea especially as your breathing went down hill and it getting worse. Does your doctor know you have stopped your inhalers? Please talk with you GP about what you are currently experiencing. If you continue without medication when you have lung damage you are likely to cause yourself more health issues.

Hi Helen, waiting for the results is probably a good idea, docs don't usually give medicines until results are to hand, the results usually indicate the next step, medicines further tests or referral to specialist. If you are not happy with the results ask GP for a referral to the specialist.
Hope you get this resolved soon, perhaps ask your GP to be signed off sick explaining the difficulties you are experiencing.
Best wishes V
