Acute burning sensation on waistline area radiating down on the back of my thighs? is it IBS or....?

Hello,

I am approximately 32 years old woman and I am already perimenopausal..

For the last 2 years after an ovarian cyst surgery, I have every symptom of perimenopause but the most unbearable is IBS I think...

Generally speaking, I have an excessive amounts of gas, my bowel movements are usually loose stools and fatigue that derived from my IBS...

I have also been officially  diagnosed with bile reflux gastritis since 2016 and I am taking occasionally riopan gel to be absorbed the bilary salts and in order to protect my stomach..riopan seems to help with the loose stools sometimes...anyway...

I would like to ask about a new weird and unbearable symptom

Since last autumn ( seasonal change who knows?) I have on a daily basis an acute burning sensation back on my waistline area which radiating down the back of my hips and sometimes reaches down my ankles? It is really unbearable and scaring! Some nights I am unable to fall asleep because of this sensation...

I am sorry I cannot describe how exactly it feels but..I hope to be undestandable

The burning pain is more noticeable when I am sitting on the chair and I have noticed that within 2  hours after eating is more intense...So, eating seems to alleviate this neuropathetic? pain....and walking around helps too

I have described my symptom to many doctors and no one knows what it is....Ι am sure that it is a digestive issue...Slower digestion? trapped gas???

Any help? any advice? Is this kind of pain a symptom of IBS or sth else?

Thank you in advance

Do you have an official diagnosis of IBS from your doctor?  Some people can get a burning stomach with IBS but I haven’t heard of the symptoms you are getting being associated with IBS though.  However, everyone’s IBS is indidvidual to them.  The symptoms you are experiencing may be more to do with the bile reflux gastritis you have. Perimenopause can also cause digestive trouble.

Abdominal surgery can trigger IBS or cause neuropathic pain due to nerves in the gut getting disturbed.  With IBS patients, these nerves become hypersensitive.  Keep going back tp your doctor and ask him or her about these possibilities.  If you can’t get help, see someone else.

Gosh, I am not sure what you are experiencing with this but let me tell you about what I have been going through for the past 12 years (started in 2006). My bizarre sensations started slowly, at the bottom of both legs. I thought it was medication I was on (Lipitor or a blood pressure medication), but the first time, it was this whoosh through my body that basically affected my legs with a stinging tingling sensation.  I immediately stopped both medications thinking it was an allergic reaction.  In time I found It wasn't.  This is a painful burning sensation that I call "stingling" ( combining the sensations of stinging and  tingling)  has over the years, progressed all over my body except above my neck.  It is horrible and it comes and goes. I don't know what triggers it and what to do other than moving my body position until it stops. It mainly hits me more at night. It is horrific and no one can even relate if they haven't experienced this.  I wonder if you are?  I have been from specialist to specialist and no one knows what to say to me.....a neurologist did say I needed to take B12 (1000 units) every day but, didn't know what this was.  I am low on B12 but I know other people that are that do not have this issue.  I have been to a Physiatrist who did some testing and found that for some reason I have developed neuropathy. I have no idea if this has anything to do with this nor did he.  I do find that there are times that I question if there is any connection to what I eat, but it's so unpredictable that I don't know.......I am befuddled.  My burning pain seems to be not internal though, it's more felt on the outside.  I would like to hear more from you as to does it feel like it's floating up to your skin...????  This is certainly not gas on my end.  I do have IBS and I do have colitis, both which started when I turned 56. Before that I had Cdiff that I got from a restaurant....then it was all downhill from there.  Never had issues of any consequence before that. This past  October, I had food poisoning which escalated severe IBs attacks over two months.  This in tern escalated me

into a month and a half of ulcerative colitis which I am just now coming out of after weeks of treatment.   Let me know about this sensation you have.  Is it burning and painful....does it travel over your body in seconds

Maybe try B12 supplements as your neurologist suggested to see if it helps.  It may be that B12 defiiciency symptoms vary from person to person and may account for the fact some people with a B12 deficiency don’t have your symptoms.   On the other hand, some people low on this vitamin can have neuropathic symptoms.

An easy blood test can tell if you have a B12 deficiency.  I get one about every four months. I do take the B12 liquid  the I purchased at a Whole Foods that you put under your tongue. That's the most efficient kind.  You can also find it on line.

Luckily I have no vitamin deficiencies; my problems are acid reflux, IBS and neuropathy caused by injuries.

Evi, I am thinking of you as I sit here watching the news. I just ate and had a Coke and all of a sudden I had that swooshing  burning through my legs and lower back end.  Last night, when I went to bed, burning and tingling all over for about 3 minutes.  It's miserable.  Hope you are doing ok.

      Hello Anna,

?my burning pain focuses on my waistline area and radiates down to the back side of my thighs.... Rarely reaches to my ankles..never in front...It usually coincides with the time after eating...during digestion I suppose...

I firmly believe that there is a connection between digestion and this acute burning horrible sensation I feel..

?In addition, my indigestion and IBS problems ( many gasses etc) I think that are derived from my weird hormonal imbalance...Despite my young age I am experiencing many perimenopausal symptoms..

I have visited all kind of doctors but no real help has been offered to me until this moment...

?I also make the assumption if this sensation could be  candida overgrowth in my intestines rolleyes

?Hope you are doing ok, too!wink
