Hello,

My husband Mike was just admitted to the hospital this morning and was given this diagnosis. I do not think they are finished diagnosing him at this point. He is 62 yrs old and a very heavy drinker for many years as well as a smoker. I was wondering if somebody in this forum can tell me if his smoking will effect his AP/CP as well as alcolhol consumption?  I do not know much about this disease. I have read all the information on here thus far.

Hi Mary.  Alcohol is the main cause for AP.  I'm not sure about smoking, but they like to make it one of the main causes of just about everything.  This forum has some great, helpful people.  You should also Google pandreatitis.  Tons of info out there.
