Yes it's scary, it's a good thing you got your boyfriend to the ER so quickly, well done.  For now I suggest you listen to the doctors.  For now just try not to stress too much as there's nothing you can do at the moment except support your boyfriend.  Get some rest. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Prayers for your boyfriend that he makes a full recovery. Two years ago I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. Instead I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitus. I was shocked as I am not a smoker and from that point on there is no more alcohol. I never drank very much anyway so quit completely. Once he recovers he should find out as much as possible about pancreatitus and make some life changes. God bless both of you and hope for the best.

I’m so sorry! My first attack I had the stomach pain and went to the hospital. Acute pancreatitis they said and my lipase which should be somewhere 60 I believe, mine was just under 4,000. After getting moved from the ER to a room I have no recollection of the next two and a half weeks except a couple little flashes of time. I went into a coma that day. I was put on life support, my heart, lungs, and kidneys were all shutting down. My fever was so high they laid me on some kind of cold blanket to help bring it down. I don’t know much actually about what medically was done to save me. They said it was 50/50 if I would make it. My pancreatitis was due to alcohol. My point is that I pulled through. Once I pulled through and wasn’t in danger of dying, the doctors thought I would have to spend a few months in a nursing home to be able to walk and take care of myself. Instead I walked out of the hospital on the 29th day. Stay strong! There is hope!! Prayers and thoughts are with you
