acute pyloneprhitis and Kidney/UTI infection??

ive always had problems with my bladder and uti ever since I was about 12 it took till i finally quit wetting the bed the doc stated it was because I had a small bladder and stress as a child. Well here within last month Ive had awful pain and my pee had awful smell and I couldnt figure out why I finally went to hospital and my WBC and RBC was over 180 they put me on 6 diff antib and still couldnt tell me anything. Now after 2 weeks off my anti and pain meds its starting to come back they said it was acute pylonprhitis and it shouldnt come back but I cant help but say it feels like it is all same systems and pain, IS there anyone else having a simalir problem like this I dont know what to do the is affecting everything

    Iv had the exact same issues since I was 12 aswell I'm now 35 it was 23yrs of hell, iv had CT scans ect so you should maybe ask to have one done, iv had stones removed, stents fitted, now have scarring on my kidneys from constant UTI I had a bladder cystoscopy last week & I'm now on trimethoprim one a night for the rest of my life as they can't figure out why I constantly have cultures in my urine & pains of a uti but never actually have an infection when the samples get to the lab, ask for a CT and cystoscopy if they all come back clear ask for bloods to be done & if that shows nothing ask to trial the nightly antibiotic it's worked for me, after 23yrs iv been pain/infection free for 6mths x

      i have went back and went to a specialist about the problems I have been having with my kidneys and pain from the infection from the bacteria. The specialist put me on more antibotic and said it was stronger he had the list of what they had tried said he would try one more thing and I have been doing this for about 2 1/2 weeks almost finished well tomorrow I will be done with the antibo that he gave me and the pharm told me that they were strong anti which i kinda figured that out once i have gotten a yeast infection and it hurts so bad that I cant hardly wash a certain area because of the burning and soreness it has caused I did get a med for the yeast infection and its been about 3 days since i took it and it has helped some but i will need another dose of that from taking the antibo while still on the other meds i just couldnt take the yeast infection any longer i had to try something to make it go away. But back to what the specialist toldme was "if this antibo he gives me doesnt help it is above his pay grade" not what I wanted to hear and that I would have to have a bacterial infection specialist come to my house and give me IV antibotic I have never heard of this but is scared me. I still am having pain in my back and in my stomach/below my rib and beside my belly button at times I feel a shudder/vibrating from side down to my ovary if anyone makes any since of that but it does and the pain in my stomach comes and goes constant. I dont have any meds to take now and not sure what to do Im going to go back and get another culture test after the antibo are done he said wait 2 days come back and have another test to see if anything shows up. But I cant figure out why im having so much pain if the meds are working??? Not to mention my spouse isnt any help with this issue if I dont have sex im awful and he has mention that its proabley the pain meds that are causing my kidney to act up and give me problems im not sure but if so what should I tell the doctor to help with the pain I didnt think that the med he gave me was strong and didnt help alot with the pain it was a low does pain med but his opion is begining not to matter because im getting the feeling only thing that matters is sex with him and when in pain and other issues this has caused I dont feel like it and pain doesnt help. I know that was too personal but wasnt sure if anyone else has or had that kind of problem with a spouse , I have been having this issue for almost 2 1/2 months but have had sex just not as much or as often before I had this issue started, Do you have any idea of what i should do to help the pain i drink water all time and cranberry juice and still it hurts

    Hi there, 

    I am not sure if I can be any help, but did they do a culture to see what type of bacteria it was?  I would think being on 6 different antiiotics it would have been attacked, however, it is possible that there could be a few stragglers left behind despite finishing the meds, and then they multiply and grow again causing another one.  Some bacterias are becoming resistant, so sometimes they need another blast.  If I were you I would go back for another culture to see if it has completely cleared up.  It is recommended that a culture be done after treatment anyways to see if it is gone.  Good luck and keep us posted.

      It sounds like you are having an awful time.  So first off what bacteria are they finding in the cultures that is causing this infection?  Have they done any further testing to see if there are any abnormalities going on in the urinary tract to be causing repeat infections?  Have they checked for kidney stones?  The tricky thing is, there are so many other reasons you could be feeling this pain.  A vaginal infection can cause pain in the abdomen and ovary area, you had mentioned yeast, if it gets bad enough you can have UTI symptoms as well.  With all the antibiotics you have been on, I really hope you have been taking probiotics to keep the good bacteria levels up.  Also you could have lower back problems, meaning a slight displacement causing muscle spasms, the best thing you can do if cultures come back fine is investigate other things that could be causiing it.  Unfortunately having sex while not completely healed is going to make symtoms last longer.  It is also important that you stay clean in that area when having sex, because you can easily reinfect with a bacteria.  Your spouse should understand that if the tables were turned and it was he that was having issues I am sure he would not appreciate to be made to feel bad.  I am not a therapist, but there are other ways for a husband and wife to be intament for the time being.  It is a commitment for better or worse, so you need to really be truthful until I have this figured out we need to find another way.  Also I want to mention antibiotics cause a lot of side effects, it too can cause stomach, and abdominal pains, so you need to give your body a break from that if there is no real infection going on and get some probiotics into you.  I hope that you find the end to all of this, nothing is worse than feeling lousy.
